Someone rank these video cards for me :)

Hi all, I'm trying to decide which ones to keep and which ones to put into which systems. 🙂

Currently I have these:

ATI Radeon 9700 128MB (non pro)
BFG GeForce 5900XT OC edition 128MB
Leadtek Winfast A360 Ultra TDH GeForce 5700 Ultra 128MB GDDR3

Which would be best for gaming?

The top system that I want to get the best is,

A64 2800+ (will likely upgrade to 3400+)
Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR (nForce3 250Gb)
1GB PC3200

I was thinking it would be close between the 5700 Ultra and the Radeon 9700 ? But I haven't been keeping up with things recently so I'm not really sure 🙁

Someone please rank those for me, 1, 2, 3! 😀

Also, with above system do you think the graphics card will be the major bottleneck, and will it be significantly severe?

Thanks!

That's really a tough call because the 5900XT does absolutely horrible in HL2. I'm not saying that's the only game you should play, but HL2 I think really shows what the FX's are made out of....poop. For DX9 games think of the FX's as the anti-christ.

I think you put them in the best order yourself.

1.9700np
2.5900XT
3.5700 Ultra

Now if you only want to play DX7/DX8 games which are more prominent now but wont be in the next year -

1.5900XT
2.9700np
3.5700 Ultra

Actually, what the hell am I thinking? I should of recommended you this -

Get a 6800 nu for 250-300 or better yet a 6600GT for around 200-250. You will be a lot more happier than getting any of those cards you listed above.

You will actually be sitting pretty with the 6600 GT and the 2800 Athlon considering any bottlenecks. The 6xxx nvidia graphic cards a very powerful. If anything you'll be CPU limited if you choose this route.

My 2.0 A64 can't keep up with my 6800GT. And from what I read, not even a FX can keep up with the GT at such high resolutions sometimes.

Thanks for the advice 🙂 I was thinking the same thing as far as their ranking just wanted confirmation.

About buying new cards... well I already have all three of those cards. They were all acquired periodically, some as direct system upgrade, and the 5700 Ultra came with a system I just got. So my options are to either keep what I got or sell one and try to find something better for the price (we now have 3 computers that are used for gaming).

There is some other hardware and either a 19" crt or 17" LCD that we could sell in addition to try and come with some dough, but I'm not really sure how well it would work out! 🙁

Anyway, thanks again!I'll use what we have for now and see how it works. Otherwise we may start looking into other options. 🙂

Between the 9700np and the 5900xtoc the two cards tend to go back and forth on games. The majority of TODAY's games the 5900xtoc would be a better choice IMO. For tomarrow's games the 9700p MAY fare better as more demanding dx9 in put into play. This obviously is up in the air beacause it may turn out that the 9700np is forced to use low dx9 settings while the 5900xtoc is forced to use medium dx8 settings resulting in just a judgment call on iq preference. If you have both cards, use the 5900xtoc and sell the ultra, get a 6600gt and then put the 9700np and the 5900xtoc into the other 2 comps when the card gets to ur place.

On the other hand, if you are playing either HL2 or Farcry until your new card gets there, then use the 9700np. I guess im just saying it depends on what games ur going to be playing until your new card arrives.
