If you have sex with a woman whom you are not married to and she gets pregnant, do you have to legally pay child support if she can prove that you are the father of the child?

yes.

and i have read that once a guys name is on a baby's birth certificate, that guy has to pay child support even if it has been proven that he is not the biological father.

my question was directed more on the line of a one night stand. a few mins of pleasure, a lifelong suffering.

that sounds highly unlikely but the court system is very pro-woman when it comes to support issues, so who knows. how can the court justify a man paying support to a child that isn't his.

i'll see if i can get bill gates's name put on my kids birth certificates...

and the answer to the OPs question: without the shadow of a doubt. you will have a moral and legal responsibility to support the child if it's yours, doesn't matter what the circumstances are regarding how she wound up pregnant...

Shens.
I flat out don't buy it. If true every rich guy in the country is going to be the father of record of tens of thousands of children.

Let's say that that's the case but she's also your mom and you're under 18 years old. So if you pay her, is she also obligated to spend some of that money on you?

Some people call it taking responsibility for your actions.

long read...

this sucks
http://www.ejfi.org/family/family-69.htm

I can no longer find the article i read that gave the trial information that upheld the child support order even though the father was proven to NOT be the bio dad. but it went on to say that the best interest of the child had to be put first and the non bio father had to contine to pay.
