Someone Keyed my Car, now what?

Yeah, sucks, its pretty bad... Here is the good part, if there is any,
I know the make of his car, his licence plate number, and I can identify him.
I filed a police report, but I have a feeling they won't do much, if anything.

Now what, How can I find out his name. Can I get money from this bastard?

Only if you can prove he did it or get him to 'fess up.....

When did this happen? I believe a fellow Anandtecher admitted to keying someones car recently.

Try searching the posts to see if it was in your neck of the woods.

Damn that really sucks, I know how you feel. If possible file a report, and get the bastard arrested. Have him pay for your new paint job too while you're at it.

<< Spend $20,000 and hire a private investigator to track him down, then KILL HIS FAMILY. >>

for that much you could get some coke heads to do it for you.

Well...deal with him personaly, (may i suggest sugar in his gas tank), and then goto the insurance place and claim damages. My bro's car got keyed, all sides, all 4 doors...insurance gave about 3000 something, my dad made him take cash 🙁 (yeah 🙁 beacuase its my car now) but even with the claim rates didnt go up or anything so its koo.

Find out who it is, sue the sh1t out of them, then beat out what's left over.

Oh and take lots of pictures of the damage and keep any paperwork regarding the repair. Also get a copy of the police report if you don't already.

<< call up your insurance company, pay the deductable, and get it repainted ^_^ >>

no deductible here, new policy and it was only $30/year more for no deductible than a $1000 deductible. wOOt! 😀

I think you can find out their information if you have their license plate # but you have to pay for each # you want information on

have everyone within a 200 mile radius line up against a piece of metal with a key, have them key at the length of the scratch on yoru car, then try to match the key style with the style on your car

Contact your insurance company. I think they're legally allowed to run plates. They'll pay out under their comprehensive(assuming you're covered) and they'll collect it from the responsible party.
