Seems to me, that just as with the perennial debate about who are the worst drivers - men or women, young or old? Where the correct answer is 'anyone in control of a motorised vehicle', i.e. all motorists, they're all liable to kill. Likewise, the group responsible for mass shootings are "people with guns".

No-one has ever staged a terror attack by cycling or running as fast as they could into a large crowd. Nor carried out a spree killing by means of running around the streets or a school and punching a lot of people.

This was a brains on fire person, quite the exception. I'm basing this on TV reporting I saw a couple days after it happened. Hate and murder were pretty much all that this person had on their mind. It was fortunate that the church had managed to insure that doors were locked once services began. That's a message to the vulnerable in America right now. The place is "armed to the teeth."
