Pc in signature, lets assume idle wattage. how much would it cost to run this pc for 24/7 in NYC?

i'm estimating that my system uses about 180watts at idle.

i'm not sure of the electricity rates but lets assume 0.12c

can someone show me how to calculate this?

I think I heard somewhere that 1watt equals to about $1 a year. So you are looking at $180 per year with it on 24/7.

I am not sure if this is true though.

180W = .18kW

24*365 = 8760 hours / year

.18kW * 8760 hours * $0.12 / kW-hr = $189.22

Hey, good estimate with that 1W = $1 per year thing.
