Someone from my old work place owes me money.. what can i do?

I changed jobs a few months ago and a few weeks after I left, I remembered someone owed me $250 from a laptop I sold him. I sent an email, and about a week later received his reply saying he was on vacation and would send my money right away.

A few weeks went by and nothing has come. After 3 or 4 weeks I forwarded his last email back to him. I've been doing the same thing about once a week and he hasn't sent a response.

What are my options here? If this jerk isn't going to respond then i'm willing to take this up in a civil court. Are there any types of template letters that look like a lawyer wrote them that I could mail to him?

this happened to me, except it was 700 dollars and i just threatened him basically and the check came the next day 🙂

How about, instead of taking legal action, you actually go see him at work and talk to him about it face to face?

If that doesn't get the message through to him, then let him know that you plan on taking him to small claims court.

Hehe.. well.. I don't look a bit scary looking and this guy is also about twice my size. 🙂

That'll probably be the route I have to take. An official looking letter i'm sure would surprise him and he might be scared into just sending me the cash.

You should talk to him first face to face regardless of the fact that he is twice your size. See him at his work and or at his house (with his wife present-if married). If one or two face to face meetings don't work then escalate to small claims court.

I'm a collections attorney. Shoot me a PM with your name, addy, phone and the same for him, the amount due, when it was due, the type of lappy, the date of the sale and your e-mail and I'll shoot ya a letter or three to choose from.
