Someone finally put those Bible thumpers in their place! Evolutionists+1!

Don't worry, I'm sure there will be 1,000 other reasons to mock my home state in the coming year. 😛

WTF! Now schools say evolution is the theory of the origin of living things? Evolution != abiogenesis. 🙁

These judges are ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing in the wording of that sticker that could be seen as unconstitutional in terms of the "separation of church and state." Evolution IS a theory by every definition of the word.

Did you read the article? They're not being removed because of the wording on the sticker, they're being removed because having the stickers there gives the appearance that the school has a position on the matter.
It sends mixed messages.
"Here, learn this stuff, but here's this sticker that we put in the book that says it's not a fact and you should look into other possibilities."
Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with looking into the other possibilites, but the sticker does not belong there, and since evolution is a scientific theory, it belongs in a science book in a science class.
I'd like to see the textbook in question, because I'll bet somewhere in the text, it probably even refers to it as "The theory of evolution" which makes the sticker even more unnecessary.
Now we just need a ruling that makes the 2,000 parents that bitched and moaned to get the stickers put there in the first place pay for all expenses involved in this sordid affair.

the school should be run the way the local parents want it to be run, not by a judge

education is a local matter for each community to decide

These are public schools. If religious folks don't like the way things are taught, they can send their kids to private schools or STFU. Period.

but they still are required to pay the taxes on the public schools, so they should still have input to how the schools are run

if you want to kick them out for having an opinion, then you have to release them from the tax obligations to let them use their money to pay for the private school

Yes, and let's release the people without kids as well, and then let's give everyone a checksheet dictating how their portion of the state tax burden should be spent, and such. That won't be too complicated.

ANOTHER GREAT IDEA

these kids need to be saved from their parents, God forbid they too grow up to be two-bit morons.

the money would still be going to educate the children, so it isn't the same as letting people without kids out of the public obligation to contribute to education

I have to agree, actually. Even though I am as non-religious as they come, I have no problems with said stickers. Evolution is a theory, simply because it is not something that can be proven. It is accepted as true, but cannot be proven, therefore, it is a theory. Oh well. I can see why they should be removed, but it wouldn't bother me if they stayed.
