You soften the cheese in the micro and the add in 1-2 eggs. You can add anything you want really.. Have it for breakfest.

I hate eggs, but this is not bad!

The level of ignorance regarding the Atkins diet is truly astounding.

I've given up talking to people about it. Most people have their own preconceptions about eating and are close minded about alternatives.

I've gotten to the point that if people want to be lard asses, more power to them.

Sensible healthy diet + moderate exercise = weight loss!

What makes me laugh is people who must weight 300lbs buying diet coke, yeah as if that's going to help. :D

No, it's when they order 2 bacon cheese burgers, fries, onion rings and then order a diet coke.

True! :D

Ever think maybe they are diabetic?? jackass....

I've been on Atkins for 3 weeks now, and have lost 17 lbs, and almost 2 notches off my belt... try telling me thats all water...

Whoever says that you are always tired and hungry on Atkins is obviously not doing it right... I have had more energy then ever since i've started it, and it seems that I don't get sleepy at all in the middle of the day at work anymore. (I used to get tired/bored and surf for hours a day.. havent been on AT OT for a while now). It seems like my blood sugar level has stabilized or something and I don't ever feel the need to have a coke/coffee/etc.

I don't even get food cravings anymore... The only time I've been hungry since I've been on Atkins was the first 2-3 days, when my body was expecting me to eat more carbs for fuel, rather than to burn fat. After those 3 days, I've felt better than ever. During the end of my first week, I even had to fast for 18 hours due to a doctor's visit, and I wasn't in any hurry to get something to eat once I got out. I actually went grocery shopping to pick up some steaks/chicken/brats for the bbq that I was going to have with friends later, before I decided to eat.

The only thing I miss is beer... I LOVE a good beer... It's gonna be awhile before I have another Guiness tho, cuz sticking to it is worth more to me. Now, on the weekends, I've gotta drink vodka/whiskey and diet pop, but it's a small price to pay... anyways, after the first strongly-mixed drink, you don't think about the taste anyway lol. The only thing u gotta get over is your friends hazing u a bit for mixing with diet pop, but after you lose a few inches and u start ripping on 'em for being fatter than you, they kinda get over it lol. Actually, I've gotten 4 chicks #'s at parties, based soley on the fact that they came to me like 'what the hell are you doing mixing with diet coke?" and then I start the conversation explaining it to them, and I end up changing subject/whatever and start a good convo :D I think chicks realize it takes a bit of balls to be out with your friends and not care what they think of your decisions and stuff... Not to mention that it shows you care about real life more than just being drunk at a party lol :)

But whatever, in short, most ppl don't understand anything about a low-carb diet. I do have to say Atkins' book is totally full of preaching, and worthless to read. You can get just as much info in a 2-hour surfing session online, without all the 'changed my life/saved me' garbage. If i wanted to get preached to, I'd read L. Ron Hubbard, or the Bible, or something. If you were to ask my suggestion, I'd say if you are going to do a low-carb diet, do it right and actually excercise and look at the nutrition info for EVERYTHING that you eat until you know how much stuff is. I actually started up with a buddy, and he broke the diet within 3 hours of starting it, cuz he's a idiot and didn't think that v8 would have carbs lol...

Atkins = dead guy that made a fad diet and spent the rest of his life thereafter whining to his cult following because no one else would try it.

Atkins is just one of many low carb diets out there, though it has probably the largest following.

Here are the basics:

Carbs consist of sugar, fiber, and other compounds. Food are the carb rich are breads, fruits, pastas, rice, etc.

Low carb foods are beef, chicken, fish, eggs, cheese, nuts (certain nuts), some vegatables (mostly greens), and lots of others.

Here is what basically happens when you ear carbs. Certains carbs raise your insulin levels (fiber and several others don't), which in effect turn on your bodies signals to store fat. It also burns some of those carbs, but in society today we tend to eat WAY too many carbs. Our bodies aren't made to eat all the grains, flour, sugar that we consume. We are omnivores, but our bodies are made to eat, vegatables, meats, greens, nuts, and some fruits. Over the last thousand years, flour and sugar based foods has been a staple of our diet and our bodies can't process it efficently, so it stores it as fat.

Here is what happens when you limit your carb intake and increase your protein intake. Your insulin level drops (to a still safe level) and your sugar level lowers. This in turn switches your body from storing fat, to burning it. Your body starts releasing ketones and it uses the stored fat on your body as it's primary fuel source. Your secondary source of nourishment is the protein that you are eating from the meats, cheeses, etc.

While you are on the low carb diet, you WILL LOSE WEIGHT! It's guarenteed as long as you stick to the plan. Once you get near your ideal body weight, you can start gradually increasing your carb intake to a reasonable level. When you start gaining weight (fat) you need to back it off. Your body will tell you when you are eating too much carbs.

This is just the basics and I'd encourage you to read Dr. Atkins "New Diet revolution" before starting the diet. If you don't, you'll most likely fail as you'll get frustrated when things aren't working as you think they should. This is most likely because you are eating a food/foods that are high in carb and you don't even know it. The book teaches you what food are high and what foods are low. It also teaches the science behind it, so you understand what your body does with all the food it takes in.

If you have any more questions, see the link in my sig.

Jugs

EDIT: Btw, as for your question
Aren't you incredibly void of any and all energy?

Absolutely not! I have way more energy now that I'm on the diet then I did before. I walk 4 miles a night and ride my bike a few miles every few days. I've lost 60lbs in around 4-5 months. I couldn't be happier!

Why dont you just eat healthy and exercise?

That is what you are doing on the Atkins plan. You can lose weight without exercising, but you'll be in much better shape phsycially if you do some cardio and weight training.

WTF? Did you ever stop to think that 300lb guy might be trying to lose weight by drinking that diet coke? Maybe he's eating a salad and a having a diet coke. Did you ever think of that? Some of us aren't graced with a great metobolism and we have to work for every pound we lose. You make fun of people who you don't know, just because they are overweight.

People like you disgust me. :|

That coke isn't going to do them justice either, only because it has aspartame in it. One of the worst things you could possible put into your body in the first place...
