I dont see how the Atkins diet can work. Low carbs? wtf? Aren't you incredibly void of any and all energy?

Why dont you just eat healthy and exercise?

Yes - low carbs. By not eating carbs, your body goes into a state called ketosis.

It creates ketones which, in turn, cause fat mobilization (removal). MOST people loose all their energy.

So it's essentially throwing your body against itself and making it digest itself. And somehow that's not unhealthy?

After the first couple days most people have significantly MORE energy than before.

It has been discussed here ad nauseum, use the search feature as was previously suggested to you.

Or, do a search on the web. You should find thousands of documents, do your own research & draw your own conclusions.

Ketosis is unhealthy..... fad diets always have a serious downfall. Pills don't work either.

The only way to lose weight healthily is to reduce caloric intake (eat less calories per day) and remove caloric buildup (exercise to increase metabolism and burn fat)

Initial weight loss (somewhat rapid) is also due to water loss. Since CHO is basically removed, glycogen is broken down by the use of 3 H2O molecules which result in initial rapid weight loss. Basically it is a false sense of lost weight.

Where do you get your facts from? I've never read anything about ketosis being unhealthy, do you even know what ketosis is?

So you're dehydrated on top of having no energy? Sounds like a deal! Where can I get in on it?

I think drinking a lot of water is part of the diet.

IMO reduced caloric intake and exercise is the best way to lose weight as it entails a change in lifestyle that will enable you to maintain a healthy wieght.

From my clinical dietitian. Plus, do a google search on how great ketosis is. Do you like to believe diet makers trying to make a dime from their diet, or do you believe clinical dietitians how don't care whether or not you give them money. People will tell you anything to get a dollar.

No, you dont get dehydrated. On the diet, you should have at least eight glasses of water every day, which everyone should be having in the 1st place regardless of whether you're on any diet. I have more energy after getting on the diet, and my energy level is more constant throughout the day. Contrary to what you might think, you can also have vegetables, limited at first, but have more the longer you're on it.

ketoacidosis is unhealthy, ketosis is not in itself unhealthy, but it can become unhealthy. drink TONS of water, and carbonated drinks DO NOT COUNT

your dietician has her own agenda, as in trying to keep her paycheck. Regular excercise should be a part of any lifestyle. How does your dietician tell you to stop cravings? With Atkins you lose a majority of the cravings, that little voice in your head that is always looking for a dougnut or a pit stop at the 7-11 twice a day -- with Atkins is is gooooooone. Carbohydrates are the main source of cravings

Man.. there is NO right answer to things like the Atkins diet. Other CKD/TKD diets are good/bad as well (NOT respectively).

Don't believe what any one person says.

Ketosis is NOT always unhealthy. Many athletes use it for may different reasons and it works well.

Ketosis is not unhealthy. You are thinking of a similar word that sounds like Ketosis which many confuse.

"Benign Dietary Ketosis, or BDK, is not the same as Diabetic Ketosis. BDK signifies the burning of fat cells for energy. It is the presence of ketones in the urine and breath. Ketones are the remnants of burnt body fat. BDK is a favorable state when dieting. It is only dangerous if it is not brought on intentionally, and if it occurs in diabetics or anorexics." If you know what you are doing then its fine. Its people who don't know what they are doing that end up unhealthy.

Ketosis stops seizures in epileptics.

Potatoes cause Cancer mmmkay...
