Someone explain why please

I just installed a XFX Mach4 Motherboard with Nforce2 chipset with a XFX 6800 GT video card and a AMD XP 2700+ and im pulling low FPS in counter-strike source and as well as not being able to use 200 FSB once i set it to 200 it doesnt post. anyone have any ideas how to get higher fps and the most out of the video card i paid for? Thanks.

What are the current multiplier/FSB settings for your CPU and what are they suppossed to be? You can use CPUZ to check.

A 2700XP is pretty slow for a Source based game. It is VERY CPU intensive. I think a 2700 is still on the 166 bus so unless you are dropping the multiplier it probably won't post at 200FSB

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the 2700+ only comes in 333fsb flavor (2x166).

The 200 fsb issue is likely due to the CPU not being capable of the speed you are attempting. If you can't adjust the multiplier then you either need to increase the voltage (can overheat) or forget it.

As for the graphics card, make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers installed.

I have latest everything etc. my 2500 + had the option to hold 200 FBS and boot and use as a 3200+ with a barton core but the 2700 has a throughbred core.. so should i go back to the 2500+ so i would i be better off with the 2700 with 166 or the 2500 with 200..

That "option" you're talking about was overclocking your CPU. Why did you get a 2700+ if you had a 2500+ running at 3200+ already?

I basically traded figureing i could gain it wasnt stable at 3200+ though it was more stable running at 2.0ghz which is a 3000+ but had difficulties but could be the old motherboard as well. but i got a better mobo so maybe it would work better :/

The 2700+ is made for a 133mhz FSB. That's why you can't post at 200FSB.

Before you mess around with this anymore, you should do some basic research on overclocking so you understand what you're doing if you don't already.

I don't have any links to guides, but I'm sure someone else does.

Yeah dude, you were overclocking the bejezers out of that 2500+. I get 40-80fps average with my rig in my sig, at max settings and 4xaa 8xaf at 1280x1024

Im told that 200fsb is whats really gonna matter out of my processor to videocard so is does anyone know how to flash bios on a XFX Mach4 NF2S-ALH mobo through AWDFLASH i open it and it asks a file to flash or something like that and i dont know what to do there. please post with responses

Why are you trying to flash your mobo? It's asking you for the BIOS file to flash with (the whole point of flashing is to replace your BIOS with a newer specific BIOS for your mobo). If you don't understand that, please stop right now. If you are not careful here, you are going to turn your mobo into a paper-weight!

First off, there's likely no need to update your BIOS on a new mobo anyway. You need to research the overclocking guides here and elsewhere first. You can post at 200mhz because you are massively o/cing a thoroughbred-core cpu. Also, what type/speed of memory are you running, and at what timings? Again, consult the guides ... o/cing without proper testing can easily lead to data corruption and a need to re-format your hard drive.

The 2700xp isnt a 133/266mhz fsb cpu, its 166/333mhz fsb.

The 2600xp was change over with 133/266 and 166/333 version avail on diff cores, thoroughbred and bartons

You obviously have no idea what you are doing, so quit while everything still works. Don't even bother consulting an overclocking guide either, as it likely won't help you. If you knew about computers, you would have known that the Barton-based 2500+ you had was and IS much better than the Thoroughbred B-based 2700+ you now have.

BTW, an Athlon XP 2700+ CPU is a 333MHz FSB (166MHz DDR) chip. It has 256KB of L2 cache, which is HALF of what the Barton-based 2500+ you decided to get rid of had.
