I don't think this of PM, but I do agree in general. Nausicaa, Akira, and Perfect Blue come immediately to mind. Ghost In The Shell nudges this territory too, though I like and respect it much more than those three.

I also think this comment applies to many Hollywood movies that have been so well reviewed in the past decade or so.
