Someone at my office complex bought a new car and drove it in yesterday

I sat in a non black before. But in person its just sinister.

Yah I'm pretty mixed on yellow cars . it really stands out though and I'm guessing Thats the point when blowing 250k on a car

I see one on the freeway near my gf's house sometimes and it has a nasty sound to it (in a good way 🙂).. blacked out, too.

Those things really are stunning in a slightly more civilized Viper kind of way.

It's a shame they're at the end of their run.

Viper GTS

I dont think I could ever leave a car that expensive in public without keeping my eyes on it. I can barely do it to my mazdaspeed3.

Nice but if I had the moneys I would buy:

oh i'm totally in agreement, 458 > SLS AMG any day.

though i guess if it were my money i'd get this.

i live and work in west LA. and the 458 is something you actually see reasonably often, the SLS a lot less so (though its way less performing a car). the mp4-12c though i've probably seen 2 of them total and its right up there performance wise with the 458

It looks totally out of place in that parking lot. Either he's the owner or he's selling cocaine.

theres a lot of companies here that are in new media / entertainment .... i work in a part of culver city called "creative office space" with weird buildings and rich seeming CEO types (. the company "media temple", is i think right next to where the SLS parks and they just got bought by godaddy so im guessing someone got paid.

oddly the outside non covered spots are the reserved ones and us plebes have to park in the covered but tandem parked antendant structure. theres a lot of land rovers, S5s, 7 series / S class, cayennes and 911s right down from the SLS, but its definitely still a standout.

culver is a good area so not surprise. the owner probably hangs out at cars and coffee.

saw his "regular car" today.

s63 amg with matte silver paint. i think all of the anandtech garage members need to get a billion dollrs each. i think our paint choices would be better at least.

A few months back I saw some guy in a 12C driving around when there was about 3 inches of snow on the road. I was baffled he would take it out in that weather. But, I suppose if you can afford it, you can afford to wreck it. >_>

The CEO at my company is worth 1.5 billion and he drives a 5 year old Lincoln Navigator.

I think the nicest car at my company is a Lexus. The cars most of these people drive are baffling. One guy (who has to make more than me) drives something like a 1992 Caviler. Wtf dude? At least, drive a cheap newer car.

This car doesn't do much for me. No clue why....I just don't care for it. (still a great car I'm sure).

MB just doesn't tickle me the way it used to back in the 80s/90s...

Never been able to sum those cars up as much more than 'dumb.' It's not really a more civilized Viper or Corvette [ZR1]. It's a 'compromise' car that trades its luxury and its performance to become something that underwhelms in every way, given its price.

And while I concur that it's one of the most awesome-sounding late model cars...you can get a pretty similar noise in a C63 for a quarter of the price. Call it an unfair comparison if you want, I've just always been confused by the pricing of their high-end coupes. Lopping a couple doors off and matching the price of a 458 does not suddenly make it a Ferrari-killer. Hell, it's not even a 911 GT3 killer (which is barely over half the price).
