Somebody pulled the fire alarm at my apartment complex at 3am

I didnt know what was going on. I woke up this insane beeping sound. I thought the smoke detectors in my unit were malfunctioning. I jumped out of bed, and ripped them out of the walls :\ Now I just have bare wires hanging.

That didnt stop the sound, so then I opened the front door and noticed everybody in the apartment complex was outside. So apparently somebody had pulled the fire alarm.

Do you think my landlord is going to charge me to replace the smoke detectors though? I mean, it was 3am, I just wanted the beeping to stop because I figured it was waking the whole complex up. Little did I know it was actually the fire alarm... it sounded exactly like smoke detectors.

Seems reasonable to be charged for ripping them out of the wall. I get that you wanted the noise to stop, but you killed innocent men.

You could have just twisted the units off. Commercial units are usually socketed and can be removed. But add false fire alarms to the list of reasons why I'm glad I don't live in an apartment. :p

I twisted them off first and pulled the battery out but it was still screaming at me so then I just ripped them off the wires. When the sound was still going that's when I opened my front door and saw other tenants outside.

How about you doing something wild like just fixing the fucking things or replacing them yourself?

Thats what I would do, most of the landlords I work for would fix them no charge though. I would of ripped the son of a bitches out of the ceiling too. 3am doesnt work for me, landlord would be lucky I didn't grab my pistol and start shooting the fucking things. Hence why I bought my own house where I don't have people bothering me and I can shoot my own shit if I fucking want to.

RIP futurefields...

futurefields today died in a horrible tragic fire... the fire alarms went off at 3am, but he deiced sleep was too important to be bothered by that loud beeping sound keeping him awake... If only that beeping sound meant something, other than just sleep deprivation. So...Instead of evacuating when the alarms sounded, he ripped them out of the wall and ceiling and went back to sleep.

I hope so, of course eviction is also something I might consider were I the landlord.

Of course had it silenced a smoke alarm, what were you going to do, go back to bed and die from smoke inhalation?
