Hi,
I think somebody sending e-mail using my e-mail address...
For the past 2 or 3 days I been going "Mailer-Daemon" replys for e-mails I have not sended
The e-mails was not send by my computer, in ever Mailer-Daemon replay it says it from the IP 12.152.179.35 but thats not my IP
One of the Mailer-Daemon relpys say that a file was send with the e-mail named "gsofwca.zip"
This is a comcast e-mail address and I have made a new password so I know they are not really using my comcast e-mail to send from..
All the e-mails are beening sent out to diff address
"john@aol.com"
"serg@metrocast.net"
"jane@bigfoot.com"

Is this a way to stop this...?

Thank you for any help!!

Someone is just using your email address as the reply address. They most likely aren't really using your account. Anyone can put anyones email address as thier reply to address. It is probably the latest virus that's being passed around appearing like it is from you.

Hmm.... I think this is the Mydoom
I started reading up on it
one of the replys have the text in it saying
The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment
also the virus "Sends infected emails to addresses found in wab, adb, tbb, dbx, asp, php, sht, htm and txt files"

But... I don't have it... I just scaned using PestPatrol

hmm... can this virus also put e-mails addresses it find as the reply address? I know other virus can...

Thanks for the help!

If the IP for the source of the email doesn't match your IP, then your computer is not the one sending those emails.

And there is nothing you can do about it, except do the forensic work and figure out who, out of all the people who have your email address, is infected.
I did that once for a friend. I knew my friend's brother was into mannatech, and one of the bounced emails was to someone there. He called him and told him to disconnect that computer from the internet NOW!!! LOL

Do not waste your time.

This is part of the My Doom scheme. I already erased 100 of them in the last few days.

Just make sure not to open the attachment.
