Here's whats going on! Installed ATA 100 controller card and Maxtor 30 gig HD (both new) No matter what OS I install (98, 98SE or Win Me) I get system registry errors, then windows says its going to fix the problem , it wipes out all my drivers. I've tried all OS's at least twice. I've by passed the controller card, reformated everytime. This is as far as I've got without any problems. Anybody know whats going on. Thanks for the replies inadvance. I just hope thing thing will hold up long enough to get an answer.
 
You mean the problem occured even after you have bypassed the controller card??

Normally I get that windows "registry error" message after I set a too aggressive memory timing. Usually it just go around in a cycle until I set the memory back.

Is anything in your machine overclocked? That might be the problem.
