somebody help: processor fan question

just a few days ago...i dropped in a new processor fan and ever since then i get this weird smell from my pc. it smells like hardware burning (if any of u guys know what that smells like) and i just opened up my pc right now while it's running n it's pretty hot in there. if any of u guys can help me out here...i would appreciate it. thanks.
 
maybe... just new hardware burning in... like new tvs... theres a smell that it needs to burn away... lol

It's probably just the new hardware smell, so it should[/b] be okay.
 
yeah that's what i thought too cuz i monitor had that smell when i first got it for about 2 weeks...so i guess all i can do is HOPE it's the new hardware smell...thanks for the responses
 
If it's an AMD processor and it's still running fine after a few days then everything should be OK. If it wasn't, you'd certainly know all about it by now. 😉

However if after a week you're still getting it I'd check the CPU/fan/heatsink and check the temperatures too.
