LOL - So if we have to cover everyone to bring down health care costs, but we are not covering 10 million people because they are illegals but only 10 million people don't have health insurance not by their choice and are legal residence, how exactly are we going to bring down costs by mandating insurance?

But this guy was not only wrong on the issue not justifying it, he was even wrong on the issue.

If Bush gave a speech and said 20 things the Democrats thought were wrong (and they were correct), we don't need them yelling 'you lie' 20 times - or probably even once.

It's really for something very serious to the nation when the political process is failing and disruption of the civility of the process is called for. I can think of very few examples.

It's not justified to simply express disagreement.

Ironically, though, the guy helped make Obama's point - just as he said there are people spreading this myth - a statement often used less than honestly to set up a straw man - this Congressman proved that there actually are such people spreading this myth about illegals getting this benefit, and the news coverage made Obama's point much more publicized than his speech did.

Ha, so it is OK to act in this manner if it is about something you personally percieve as being "wrong" or rather an "extreme" situation...who makes the determination if on the fly the sitting prez is being harmful or dishonest...does it have to be both or simply one or the other....

From your perspective Obama is "the man" wheras as far as I am concerned he is full of S when it comes to healthcare and what he proposes is both deceptive and harmful...so then this guy was in the "right" for what he did.

Whatever, I am not looking for a response, just funny to see your reply above, what a joke.

Wow, the political landscape has been forever altered in the Democrat's favor

What Wilson's outburst HAS done lead moderates and clear-thinking conservatives to question the inflammatory rhetoric of the far-right.

Now, when we hear "death panel!" or "government takeover!" or the like, it can be dismissed with, "Oh, another Joe Wilson moment."

Wilson has brought discredit on the tactics of the right, and the change in perception is bound to help Obama's health care initiative.

Mark Sanford
André Bauer
Jim Demint
Lee Atwater
Bob Jones

edit: Honorable mention: Jesse Helms ---> born in NC along the SC border

Awwww, poor Joe is a "victim" who needs campaign contributions stat. See:

Joe Wilson: 'I will not be muzzled'

South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson released a fiery fundraising appeal late Thursday, calling himself a target of the left and vowing to push forward in his battle against President Obama?s health care reform effort.

??I will not be muzzled. I will speak up loudly against this risky plan,? Wilson says in the video appeal on his campaign Web site.

Wilson says. ?They want to silence anyone who speaks out against it. They made it clear they want to defeat me and pass the plan.?

?I need your help now,? Wilson pleads, directing viewers to his campaign Web site.

No one's trying to stop you from speaking out on healthcare, Joe, we just want you to shut up and show some decency when the grown-ups are speaking and trying to find actual solutions to our problems.

D'oh! Poor, poor, stupid Joe. :(

I heard this patriot on the radio yesterday. An overwhelming majority of calls to his office are supporting him.

:music:
GO JOE! A real American hero. Fighting to save the day!
GO JOE!

Figures you'd choose a douchebag like Joe to be your hero.

Lighten up. It was a reference to the GI JOE cartoon/song.

Odd thing is, they're both about the same when it comes to being in touch with reality ...

Really, would you kindly tell me what truth he interjected that was not obvious, dealt with and that actually opposed anything what so ever?

Thanks.

He said that Obama was lying.

Basically, Joe Wilson is like the little lad who said the emperor doesn't have any clothes. That's all there is to it! It's an inappropriate and dumb comment by the little lad but it was also the real truth! So Joe didn't do too bad after all!

Joe definitely broke with traditional decorum, but with the US going British with UHC maybe he went into Parliament mode...pretty soon congressmen will be going around saying cheerio and rubbish.

But no. It was Joe who was lying. It's been shown over and over in this thread and others. Feel free to ignore reality, but please stop inflicting your ignorance on the rest of us.
