some thaughts and another big poll

So I have been hearing lots lately regarding the issues and it is clear we have plenty and they contrast quite a bit.
Like the fight for freedom that we have as a nation embarked upon. It is indeed a noble task to bring hope to the miserable, peace to the war torn, food to the hungry, and freedom to the oppressed.
We as a nation are now faced with a very important decision and the spin-doctors and the politicians are working hard to keep us confused with all kinds of facts they dig up from god knows where.
As I see it from conducting polls here and talking with people we as a nation have some difficult challenges ahead. How will we manage to preserve our safety as well as our freedom in today?s dangerous world? I had to remind a young man today that the Mexican immigrants that he so dislikes are fulfilling the noble cause of freedom and that is a good thing. The statue of liberty has a poem on it that sums it all up perfectly

We are becoming a closed nation, untrusting and mean. We are gaining a reputation as a bunch of warmongers.
What to do huh?
What are the most important things in your life today that will effect your decision in November? I am for the most part just interested in the major political issues we face currently.
So the oldman will conduct another poll please feel free to suggest questions I may miss. I hope this will be educational and somewhat enlightening in these days of spin and confusion.
Thank for the input
Jerome

"Do you feel resentment towards new immigrants to America including those here illegally"

Uhh...want to try again?

very, no, yes, yes, yes, maybe, maybe, don't care, yes, yes, no, against whatever the current status quo is for the sake of being so, no, yes, sometime yes sometimes no, obviously not.

This forum does not represent America. Most Nascar dads can't use a computer and many zealots think electricity is the devil's work unless it's being used to put a mentally disabled person to death in the electric chair.

Also, what is the war on terror really? Do you mean terror? Because that is an issue for me. But when you say "war on terror" I think of the bogus GWB actions and his scare-mongering.

Sorry about your Aunt, nick, but if she had a normal IQ in her heyday and isn't currently facing electrocution for a capital crime, I fail to see the connection.

Your pain is your pain but {b]Infohawk's[/b] post has nothing to do with it.

connection to what?

I gotta agree with Perknose on the only major issue brought up in this thread so far.

Nick, Info was criticizing the government for executing those who in his mind (in this case the retarded) did not deserve the most extreme punushment for their crime. I don't think that he was trying to slag those who have mental deficiencies in any way whatsoever.

The irony in this post is that you would use the term "zealot" in an attempt to insult other people.

Exactly.

Do people really call their own relatives "vegetables?"

oldman, what conclusions do you draw from your poll? Also, what is your definition of the "war on terror?"

The forum doesn't represent a cross section because of age and gender, not party affiliation.

no conclusions as of yet
the war on terror is the combined effort by the us govt and it allies locally nationally and internationally against extremists who would harm innocents and or themselves for a cause whatever that may be.

interesting poll...could be fine-tuned a bit, but alright I suppose. It is hard for me to answer some of the questions as a student, but getting healthcare through the state as a Grad. Asst. In terms of taxes, I think the current policies are terrible, but I don't pay any as a student since everything I make is "for school" and un-taxable (I also make little, so I fit in the lowest tax bracket).
Just my 2 cents
