I havent' upgraded my puter in a while but I would like a new Athlon XP that I could overclock for fun. I was hoping someone could give me an idea on a good motherboard.
I've used Abit's before and I appreciate their simple clock and memory adjustments through the BIOS.

And one more question, if I overclock will I need to buy DDR memory higher than 2100, or are there even motherobards that let you use SDRAM?

Thank You

If you're gonna shell out the coinage for a new cpu, definitely go with DDR

As long as you get Crucial pc2100 DDR ram, you'll be able to overclock pretty well. crucial's pc2100 runs pretty darn well at higher speeds

I'll second the vote for Crucial - reasonably priced and OC's great. Mine runs at CAS2 with all the speed options over a 145 FSB with no problem. And yes, get a pure DDR board if you can. There are a couple boards that can take SDRAM, but you usually lose out on other nice options with those. As for which board, heavy OC'ers seem like the Abit and the Soltek, sometimes the Epox, for the OC options. I love my Soyo Dragon Plus, though it lacks a separate memory voltage control - so if you really want the best OC's, that may not be the perfect choice.

Thanks all for the suggestions and comments. I think I'll go ahead and upgrade to DDR while prices are still low to medium.

Thanks
