I smoked for about 7 years ... only attempted to stop once before ...
I decided one night at a party that I was done. Didn't want to wheeze, smell, screw up my lungs any more. This was back in January, and I haven't had a puff since. It was tough, it's so easy to just go get more. But I'm loving not being a smoker anymore!
My clothes don't stink, I don't have to stand outside in the heat and smoke .. etc etc. I did chew nicorette gum sometimes if cravings were bad. I'm convinced the results were mental though.
Really depends how much you smoke. I was a pack a day person. My life revolved around when my last cigarette was, when my next one was going to be, and if I had time for just another or two before bed.
You have to be ready to quit. For you, not anyone else. You have to decide to never smoke anything again, ever, period. It's like being a recovering alcoholic, you can never touch your lips to alcohol again, and if you're a recovering smoker, you can never touch your lips to any pipe, cigarette, cigar, etc, ever again.
It's a commitment, but you won't be dissappointed.
My life has changed a lot in the last 8 months, and I hope to never smoke again! Besides, I did enough of that for a lifetime
Good luck!
