well if you guys knew anything, all you would have to type is "google" and then hit ctrl+enter.

yep ctrl + enter is sooooooo much faster altho i accidentally do that for .net and .org sites too and it comes out with stupid msn search thing.

Use MozillaFirebird, and use Ctrl+Shift+Enter for a .org address and Shift+Enter for a .net address 🙂

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you don't know the exact url, type in google and press Enter, and it will check Google and give you the "I'm Feeling Lucky" result...but don't use spaces in it 😉

Confused

the new software guy in our group types with his two index fingers. everytime i see him do that i sneer under my breath.

You use IE? Bwahahahahaha... 😉

J/K

Altavista used to rock once upon a time. 🙁 And using http:// is fine. Let him type the extra characters. Big deal.

I don't get the humor...

Some kid in my class said he knew a lot about computers (self proclaimed computer expert), and while helping my teacher out with some research on the web, he started to type in the entire URL for everything "http://www.etc....". I thought it was funny considering this guy types in the entire URL everytime he browses. 😕
And you thought this was interesting enough to start a thread about?

This guy types in the ENTIRE URL, i.e. he ACTUALLY types "http://www.google.com" whereas if you know ANYTHING about an Internet browser, you only need to type in "www.google.com" or "google.com."

Actually, www.google.com and google.com are not the same thing. They are two separate DNS entries.

Granted, most domains alias one to the other, but don't assume that they are the same thing. They are not.

... and we have a winner ! IE rules.

That dude was right about needing to have AUTOCOMPLETE --> Web Addresses enabled. It won't work without it - took me months to realize why it stopped working. :|

What kind of loser actually watches what other people type into IE address bars in an effort to make himself feel superior to them?

Big deal! Its just his habbit. Now, if he didnt know how to install video drivers or didnt know about ctrl + alt + delete or something... well then he should be laughed at and ridiculed.

I checked altavista out the other day for old times sake and it seems pretty nice. They've added a lot of stuff that google has. Although I still don't use it because uh, I can type google really fast. I also don't think that thing is all that funny (typing https://) BUT I hate the class computer expert. They are always the dorkiest kid, who usually hates other kids to the point of making their lives miserable throughout the computer class. It is like their only grace of power.

Does no one remember when radio stations gave out URLs and they would say the whole thing.

H T T P Colon forward slash forward slash W W W dot G O O G L E dot C O M forward slash

On IE, I don't know about other browsers, all you have to type is the stuff between the www. and the .com.... so if you wanted Google, type Google, then hold control and press enter.

Voila! it types in http://www.google.com for ya, and all you typed is google

I don't know about other ATOT users, but all you have to do is read the whole thread, and read what others have posted.

Voila! You'll see that this has been mentioned a half dozen times in this thread! And all you did was show a modicum of intelligence.
