Today at Staples B&M:
Maxtor 40+5......$179.95
price match......<.59.96> proof, print out, Office Depot web page
Iomega zip drive.<.84.84>
tax.................8.40
net drive cost.....43.55 (this assumes zip drive can be sold for $84.84)

hehehe 😉....45GB 7200rpm 100/ATA for $43.55
Staples...we love you!!!!!

Success! This is how it went for me:

(1) A few days ago I called 1-800-3STAPLES and purchased the Maxtor 40 GB drive. Pricematched against Office Depot dot com and applied a $25 coupon to bring the price down to $100 delivered (no shipping, just tax). (I was sorry I missed the free Zip drive deal the week before, though.)

(2) Today Staples circular advertises free Zip drive with the Maxtor, so I called 1-800-3STAPLES again and asked, can I get in on that? CSR asked me for SKU and coupon codes for the Zip drive, then tells me I will get the Zip drive too. The price of the Zip drive will be charged and then credited to my credit card.

Net cost for Maxtor 40 GB and Iomega Zip: $100. Boo-ya! Now, here's hoping I get the 45 GB package!

This, and the three Linksys network kits for net $0 after MIR, have made this a very good week for Hot Deals!

Just came back from B&M Staples and pickup my Zip Drive. They give me a little hassle but they give it to me anyway.
He's what happen.....

I went to my local staples with my receipt and told them I call the Staples online and told them the situation and they say for me to go back to where I bought the Maxtor and get my drive. The manager give me hassle saying that the ad starts today and that I bought the drive last week. So I told her that if that the case I come back and return the drive and repurchase it back to get the zip. She say that it doesn't work that way and start giving me problem. So I told her that to save me the trip, why don't you just take the drive out of the showcase and ring it up and then credit me back for it. One thing leads to the next, the manager went to see another manager and they finally give it to me. When I walk outta there the Manager was giving a dirty look. Anyway....I GOT MY ZIPDRIVE! 😀

How is everyone doing....anyone get the zip too?!?

A word of advice, don't be afraid of the Manager, stand up on what you believe and you will succeed!

I just hope I get my drive and zip.
I also hope I get the 45 gig ata 100 drive.
I also hope that the maxtor rebate will work when I get my ata card from onvia.

lots of hopes........ waiting till tuesday......

Steve

PS the damned staples site is down right now

Do you have to buy the ata100 card at the same place, like it must be on the same receipt or can you buy them both separately to still qualify for the $50 fast bucks?

I ordered the hard drive and the card last Sunday. I just called now and got the zip drive ordered for $00. I love Staples.

My total cost for 45 gig hard drive, ATA100 card and USB zip drive after the $50 rebate is $76.00.

It does not matter where you buy the card from. You can buy the card from Onvia and still get the rebate.

if i buy the hd for their regular price and get the zip; am I obligated to return the zip too if i return the harddisk?

<< if i buy the hd for their regular price and get the zip; am I obligated to return the zip too if i return the harddisk? >>

Think of it this way: If you purchase a car with a leather interior. You take out the front seats and keep them, but return the car. Do you think the dealer would permit this? I think not!

it depends, was the zip an extra charge? i bought a sega saturn at target when they came out, included 3 free games. the saturn rung up as 199.99 and the 3 game pack was .01, well i didnt like the saturn and took it back. got a cash refund of 199.99+tax and kept the games 🙂 lame i know, i was young. just waiting for a good saturn emulator now.

My story:
Ok, I have 2 Stapels B&M w/in 25 minutes of my house. Did the price match on the 40 (+5) Gig (ATA/100) hard drive at the one store for $119.00. They wouldn't let me use online coupons. I got 2 of them and bought the ATA cards also. Today I called store closer to me to get Zip and they said we only price match, or Zip drive, not both. So on way home, I called other store, and CSR says I'll give you one Zip but not 2, regardless of price match. So I got 1 free Zip two days after buying the drives. I'm greedy like everyone else and was wondering if I tried to get the 2nd Zip from online Staples, would I have any luck, even though it was a B&M purchase? Just a thought.

Thanks,
Medmike

How do you guys still make it to PM with OD as they out of stock on these drives?
I tried three different Stples stores and everywhere they were calling OD tp check availability.

My deal went a little something like this. This morning around 1 AM I printed out the Office Depot page showing the Maxtor 40GB for 119.95. I wrote all the coupon codes on it and then went to my local Staples. The clueless fairy behind the counter said they were sold out of HD's. They had plenty of the Maxtor controller cards though and about 3 Zip100 USB's. So I left and went to the Staples downtown.

I went there and asked if they pricematched. Sure they said, what do you want? So I gave him the paper and I had the date 12/03/00 highlighted at the bottom. I knew that Office Depot had jacked up their price this morning. Then he asked where the price was and I circled $119.95 for him. Then I asked, "Sir don't I get a zipdrive with that?" He said Yup! Then he said, "I don't know if we have any more in stock." So I saw one and pointed to it and he said, "Sorry that is the Zip250, the deal is for the Zip100." So he looked and there was a stack three deep to the right. He pulled one out and brought the HD and Zip to this new hispanic cashier. Then he spoke to her in Spanish. Well she didn't understand how to do pricematching still and so the manager came. When he did this man who was running frantic around the store came up and started yelling at him and being an ass. So the manager asks the price, types it in. Now the HD is down to $119.95. Then she enters the code for the zipdrive. ERROR. The coupon does not work. Why? The guy gave me the Zip250 which was listed at $179.95. So I said, "But maam, it says right here I get a free zipdrive." And she says "Yup it sure does" Then she enters some bypass code and takes off $179.98. After tax I walk out with a 40 gig Maxtor and a Zip250 USB for 129.25

Then I come back and try to get the Maxtor controller card but they are sold out in my area. Damnit.

My Staples never called or checked the website of OD, they just looked at the OD webpage I had printed....showing $119.00 for the 40GB Maxtor.

😉

I printed the page for the hard drive at $119.00 After I got home from working a 12 hour nightshift struggled to stay up to get in on this deal. Staples wouldnt match the price. I was told that they will not do price matches on deals like this :-(

Anyone looking to get rid of a hard drive?
