some recruiter just spammed me with a position at my own company

I posted my resume on a few message boards and I got an email from some random recruiter who probably mass emailed a bunch of people who he thinks is qualified. Now I'm afraid my company might know I'm actively looking for another position.. What's the best way to post your resume online w/o your own employer finding out?

I had something similar happen. About a month after I was hired I got a call for another position within the same company from an online resume. I explained that I was already hired here. I got a follow-up call the next week asking if I was interested!

Oh man you should have taken it. Wouldn't it be awesome to tell your boss off then walk 20 steps to your next job? 😀

I had something similar happen when I worked for my first company. Put my resume on Monster.com but I wasn't actively seeking employment and ended up getting contacted by recruiters for positions at the job I was working at the time.

I ended up getting called into the manager's office and dressed down for looking for jobs elsewhere, not being loyal, questioning whether or not my head was in my current job if I was looking for work elsewhere. Of course, the entire office was looking for jobs elsewhere...including the manager that gave me the dressing down! He got his green card a month or so later and bolted out the door.

Internal job transfer is the norm. If the position got posted, nothing wrong if you applied for it.

Aren't jobs normally advertised internally before bothering to go looking outside the company for new employees?
