The 300C with the 5.7 litre, 250kw V8 is 60k AUD here (59,990)

I could have a Falcon XR6 Turbo (245kw) for $46,405

http://www.ford.com.au/range/falcon/models/xr6turbosedan.asp

I could have a Falcon XR8 (260kw) for $51,330, hell, thats still significantly cheaper than the weedy 183kw 300C at 54k (53,990).

http://www.ford.com.au/range/falcon/models/xr8sedan.asp

And those are just standard Ford Australia cars, i haven't even looked at Ford Performance Vehicles; http://www.fpv.com.au/

On the Holden Front, i could have;

Monaro (260kw and infinitely sexier looking imo) for 60k

http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=12001

A 260Kw Commodore SV8 for $44,490

http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=4009

A 260kw Commodore SS for $51,790

http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=4005

and that's without going here; http://www.hsv.com.au/vz_intro.html

You rate cars by watts? Interesting, never knew that... that is if that's what it stands for.

Yes we rate them with kWatt and Nm which I suppose are SI units :)

that's in australia dug... in the US, its 30k USD for that car. personally, i think it's slick looking - the SRT8 version with the 6.1L 425hp engine is one of my dream cars:heart:

and no, i dont buy into it cause its "hemi" powered :p

The monaro is basically the GTO right?
So you pay the equivalent of 44K usd while we pay 10K usd cheaper for what is at least the same car, if not better in many aspects?

Sounds like a steal!

Both the Falcons and the Holdens look the same. The 300C SRT8 is a far sexier car then any of them. I would kill for one. Classy in white, intimidating and ominous in black. :thumbsup:

I don't find a brick with an enormous shiny tacky grill 'ominous' myself. Looks like someone decided to create a mini, tacky, Bentley with boxy angles :p

Just imo of course ;)

Of course the Falcons both look the same, as do the Holdens (the monaro obviously looks different), they're just different engined/spec'd models of the same car :p Like the little V6 300C looks just like the Hemi one :p What a daft thing to say ;)

I meant the Holdens and Falcons all look the same, to me. Not that all the Falcons look alike, or the Monaros look alike :p

Japanese and European cars achieved this kind of body for cars many years ago. Ford needs to copy cat in order to keep up with the car industry.

The Ford car is not ugly by the way, it's actually good looking. In fact, Chrystler is a proxy name to help save face for Ford.

edit: Smart consumers would look at a Toyota or Honda, or either a more reputable company for lower maintenance vehicles in my opinion.

I like 'em.. (and own an '05 GTO)

Um... what? You do know Chrysler and Ford are two completely seperate companies, right? Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth/Mercedes Benz are owned by the Dailmer-Chrysler group, Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Jaguar are all owned by Ford, and Chevy/GMC/Holden/whatever are owned by GM. All of the American mfgs are also in agreements with, or own parts of, a few Japanese car groups, too.

KW = electric output in most places. ;) LOL.

HP = Horsepower, which can be converted to Torque easy, if you know the rpm of rated HP.

I would rather have a 1956 Chrysler 300, than the current one. ;)

5.7 Hemi;
This engine generates up to 340 horsepower at 5,000 RPM, and 390 pounds-feet of torque at 4,000 RPM.

6.1-liter SRT HEMI® V8 engine packs 425 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 420 pounds-feet of torque at 4,800 RPM. HEMI is a registered trademark of DaimlerChrysler Corporation

Because it's dated, late-90's styling wouldn't sell in the US. example: GTO/Monaro

Exactly. They tried, they failed.
