some RAID benchmarks

4 x 400gb Western Digital RE2, RAID 5 connected to Areca ARC-1220 RAID controller
transfer min: 77.3 mb/s
transfer max: 170.2 mb/s
transfer avg: 138.2 mb/s
access time: 12.8ms
burst rate: 489.9 mb/s

Are those HD Tach scores?


The Intel IOP341 based ML cards are BLINDLY fast. 1600 MByte/S to and from the cache (or array if enough disks are running). My score was from 8 raptor 150's in RAID0 with 128k stripes. It will encode a DVD (disk to disk) in around 32 seconds with shrink. :Q 2GB cache REALLY helps too. The disks hardly click at all unless you really punish the array.

8 disk RAID 0. Sexy... 😀 Oh, and yes, that was with HD Tach.
