Hi all,
I just built a new pc with a A7N8X Deluxe. I will be adding my own video card and soundcard.
Do I have do disable the built in video and sound in the bios or will it auto detect the video and soundcard I add?
Also are there are any bios tweaks I should know if I am going to connect it to a wireless router using one of the built-in LAN connectors?
I am running a 2500+ CPU. What CPU External frequency speed do I use? It shows the CPU at 2500+ at the POST screen with it currently set to 200. Should I leave it there if I don't want to overclock?
Is it worthwhile installing PC Probe?
Thanks much for any info.

Not sure what motherboard u are really talking about because the A7N8X DLX's do NOT have on board video. if u don't want to OC it should have a FSB of 166 and multi of 11 I think.

The are no bios tweaks that I know of for using the built in LAN other than using the bottem nic which is the NVIDIA one. Which has better speed and less CPU utilization if than the top one (3COM). Asus PC Probe is sort of worthless if u arn't realy goign to over clock but just check the PC health in the bios to see if ur temps are within spec.
Also why are u getting rid of the on board sound? It is better than most sound cards u could put in other than a brand new audigy 2 or ZS.

Maybe you are right. I really like my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and was planning to use it. Does it draw on CPU power?

Listen to both cards (onboard and TBSC) and pick the better sounding one. The Nvidia sound is done mostly in hardware. I don't think the sound has much impact on performance.

Just do what Monkey Drive says to do try both and choose the one you like best.

Thanks I'll do that. However if I stick with the TB card will I need to disable the onboard audio?

I did the same thing as you were going to do (put the TBSC in), but after I tried the onboard SoundStorm, I'm never going back to my TBSC. I really liked that card, but the SoundStorm sounds so much better in games. The EAX2 makes a hell of a difference. It takes a while to get used to the way music sounds now with the onboard, but by no means does it sound any worse. It just sounds different. You can tell that it's coming from 4 seperate speakers now, instead of sounding "whole". Check it out and see if you can tell.
