I'm thinking of picking this one up Nero 7 Ultra Edition, and have a few questions.
Firstly, on the rebate -- it says to send the title page of the manual of a competitive software. I have Pinnacle Studio 8, so do I just tear off the front page, and include it with the rebate form?
Next onto the functionality... Having checked the program's website, I see that includes a whole bunch of apps. I'm assuming that what I'm looking to purchase is in fact the same as what I see on Nero's site, if you know that's not the case, please let me know.
So, I'd like to do a few things:
1) Back up many Digital 8 tapes onto DVD and/or harddrive. I know that I can transfer DV through firewire onto my harddrive, and then convert it to MPEG2, author it, and then burn. However, I'm wondering if I can do this simpler with what Nero provides, and achieve good quality. Any personal experiences are greatly appreciated.
2) I record some TV shows through GB-PVR. I'm insterested in (a) burning some of those onto DVDs to play in standalone players, and (b) converting them into MP4 to save size, and watch them on my TV through my PC.
So for part (a) do you know if Nero reencodes the MPEG2 stream recorded by GB-PVR? At some point I used BeyondTV to record a show (I made sure I selected DVD-compliant recording), and then tried to burn that show onto a DVD through Ulead suite that came with my DVD burner. The stream was reencoded by Ulead, I'd like to avoid doing this.
As far as part (b) is concerned, I know that Nero's MPEG4 format is special, and I cannot play it in a standalone player. However, I'm looking more for having some shows that I record persisted on the harddrive perserving decent quality and greatly reducing the harddrive space. Once again, any personal experiences are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
