I'm moving and getting new wireless equipment (Linksys WRT54GS) and want to make sure I'm set up pretty dang securely. I'm thinking of having a MAC allow list and using WPA-PSK with TKIP with the SSID broadcast disabled. I'm pretty fuzzy on the WPA-PSK stuff but I'm googling now. I'll be using Sveasoft firmware too, which hopefully has some built-in firewall capabilities, plus running A/V and firewall stuff on each computer. But as far as the router goes, will a MAC allow list, WPA-PSK with TKIP, and disabling the SSID broadcast pretty much cover all my bases?

Yup, read those earlier today from your previous posts :)

My plan thus far:
1. Buy a Linksys WRT54GS router and a HGA7T antenna
2. Install Sveasoft firmware and increase power
3. Put unique SSID on router
4. Disable SSID broadcast
5. Set router to channel 11
6. Set MAC allow list
7. Enable WPA-AES security
8. Set DHCP to number of computers on network
9. Set up NetBEUI for file/print sharing (if 2000 & XP can communicate using this)
10. Set up a router firewall if available through the Sveasoft firmware
11. Run Antivir/AVG/Avast, ZoneAlarm, Spybot, Adaware, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Miranda IM on each machine with weekly updates and scans

How's that sound?

Any recommendations on the A/V software? I've been using Trendmicro Housecall online, but I'm a bit worried that if I might get a virus or if the site is down I'll be hosed, so I'm thinking an installed program is the way to go.
