I'm pretty sure people who are assaulting someone on their property while concealing illegal handguns have no legal rights to shoot their victim if he decides to retaliate.

Assault? What assault? If he goes up to these kids a day or two from now and starts waving around a handgun, he will be guilty of brandishing. Just because they ONCE had pistols and a shotgun on his property does not give him the right to brandish a weapon on a separate incident.

Also, if he is stupid enough to brandish a weapon, the kids can retaliate with lethal force and get away with it as long as they prove they felt their life was in danger and they could not get away from him in the situation. Though this won't absolve them from the illegal carry chage.

Purchase a weapon. Lay low and quietly wait for the children to come running around your neighborhood with guns again. Run out and unload. Use the excuse that you just saw people with guns on your property and feared the worst, so you had to defend your family.
