...about my WinCE PDA I'm auctioning on Egay. He asked if I wanted to trade for anything...so I'm like, "sure let's hear whatcha got!" I'm expecting the ususal computer hardware trades I see in FS/T....but oooohhhh nooooo, this is Egay, home to stupid people worldwide. ;) This is what he sends me:

<< I have a Mossber Model 500 12Gauge Special Purpose shotgun, it's brand new, never been fired, all black, polymer pistol grip and foregrip, 8-shot capacity chamber, 18 inch barrel. Gun is fully customizable. Very nice.
The other is a Ruger P95 semi-auto 9mm handgun, it is very nice also, comes in box, has two 10-shot magazines and two 15-shot magazines. The two 15-shot magazines were close to $60 each, alone. I also have ammo for both guns, will have to ship it separately if you are intereseted. I will trade you one of these for the PDA.

Well, if you weren't going to consider my trade offer, you should have just said so.

I'll put it this way...would you buy a firearm from some guy on the Internet you didn't know? :)

Lord knows what those guns have been used for, or if they're stolen.

I don't have anything against guns, but this isn't the way I'd buy a weapon. :)

EDIT: Plus, doesn't that just strike you as a pretty different item(s) for trade? I mean, a PDA for a gun? Just not what I was expecting this early. :)

How about a Charles Daly Model 500 SidexSide 12Ga. double barrel? ;)

It even has real serial numbers and all! :)

What's even worse is how does he even know that you are over 18? Or can even legally own a gun.

Another good point, Yakko...what if I'm a convict? ;) And come to think of it, isn't what he's trying to do completely illegal?

In all seriousness, I would never buy or trade over the internet with the exception of a reputable dealer that I had checked first. Too many whacko's out there.

Actually no its not. You can buy a a gun privately via the Guns America Classifieds, from across state lines, as long as (I think) you pick it up from your local FFL (Federal Firearms license?) Gun dealer, which is where the firerm gets deleived too. Well that appears to be the ways its done. I assume that when you pick it up a small fee is payed for the service & they do all the background checks 'n paperwork, etc.

So (I assume) there's nothing wrong with that offer of his, as long as he follows the correct procedured, such as layed out at the above website.

huh...that's interesting Dabanshee, I never knew about that. Thanks for the info, but I'd still rather buy my firearms direct from a licensed dealer. :) Just to be on the safe side, ya know?

Edit: My roomate just coined the term "High Tech Redneck" for this guy. And before y'all go getting pissed, he's from Texas, so he can do that! ;) ;) ;)

afaik, doing a straight direct trade would not be legal because of the lack of a background check. Make sure this deal would be passed through a licensed dealer.

hehehe.. I'll trade my car for anybody who has a NUCLEAR BOMB they want to get rid of..

No offense to all you Americans (I have lots of American friends who are awesome :D) But I am glad to live in Canada, where the FireArms regulations are a bit more strict ;)

I have bought a couple of guns in the past from ads that I had seen on an old BBS. The first thing I did was get all the guys information, drivers license, SSN, and the serial number of the gun. I then went to a friend of mine that was a Police Officer, and had him run a check on him and the serial number of the gun. As it turns out, I became good friends with this guy after we both became prison guards. Not all people are bad but there are a lot of freaks in the world.
