Some programs take long to close

Most of my games shutdown immediately when I quit. I'm then free to do anything in Windows.

Some other games take a moment or two to close and then Windows is almost frozen.

Is it because there isn't enough RAM?

I think its the hard drive but not sure. I never tried a WD Raptor vs a 7200 rpm hard drive when closing games or programs to see if there was a huge difference or not. Even 1 to 5 seconds would seem like a huge difference to me because it could add up quickly. seconds into minutes, minutes into hours.

You don't say what operating system you use.

If you use Windows XP, then try this registry adjustment to force XP to unload DLL files after closing a program. See if this helps you.

Start / Run / REGEDIT
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer.
Create a new key named 'AlwaysUnloadDLL' and set the default value to equal '1.'

Here's a picture of that as I did it on my computer (works great, too!)
