paypal thinks that someone hacked into my WAMU bank account. I don't think so b/c I'm very careful with that stuff and never write it down or tell anyone. I think maybe someone stole my statement from my mailbox b/c I recently moved.

Finally got it all back. Paypal was actually MUCH more helpful than my bank. The bank was pretty much worthless in this and took forever to refund the fees I incurred b/c of this. So after 1 month and many hours on the phone I got it all back.

There are many ways that a debit can clear an account, and stop pays are not valid for all of them. I used to work at a very large credit union and saw this stuff every day. Heres another thing to think about, a large portion of the unauthorized forms that I dealt with were in and of themselves fraudulent. People sign a contract or do something without reading fine print and then throw a fit when the company tries to take money that the person agreed to pay. It is not as cut and dry you would like to think. One more point, some debits are pre-authorized and by law must be payed by an institution, stop payment or not.

Now it is time to move your accounts to a bank that may treat you better.

Yup, I have a few outstanding checks and my wife's auto deposit goes here. But I'm basically moving all my funds and leaving them open until all that is sorted out.
