So get off your ass and go...we're not holding you back...:D

Not everyone has $.

We can barely afford groceries, let alone Hawaii.

Young is a very relative term when speaking about the age of islands...:p

Waimea is a nice town. As you drive through it, you can see the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side...literally. Dammed 'spensive though...they blame it on them dammed Kahleeforneeyans who keep moving there and driving the prices up...(I found out when we went looking at homes :D )

Parts of the Big Island look like a moonscape, with no life apparent, BUT, if you get out in it, you find tiny plants and occasionally small critters that make their home there...all part of the terraforming process I guess...Heck, in another 10 million years, those places will probably be tree-covered with a nice layer of soil and ground-cover...:)

I love Waiamea. I'd love to retire in Kamuela in... 40 years or so. Sit on the porch and watch the fog roll in off the hills as the sun sets. Sip a beer and pet a dog.

What simple and admirable goals, I wish I can be content with that. Cursed is me.

I don't have a problem with doing that, I just have a problem with AFFORDING to do that...but I'm working on my retirement plan...I play the Lotto twice per week...:D

Lemmie tell ya how I did it...

1. Sold the house
2. Moved to Maui
3. ... ?
4. I'm still here. :p

Like I tell everyone... getting here is easy, the trick is staying here. However, once you're here, you figure it out pretty quick. (Otherwise you have to go back and there is no goddamn way that's happening!) In a weird way it's kind of fun because you have to be a bit more creative to earn a living here than you do back in the real world. I could have my old job back in two seconds if I wanted it. But over here I do a little graphic design, a little real estate, a little home theater work... basically I do what I want. :D It's fun. Keeps me on my toes. And I never get bored with work. ;)

Seriously? Looks like I'll have to stick with post cards, or wait until I'm beautiful enough to sell myself. Sexually mind you, I'm not into the deadly bits.

Yea because the Democrats are offering free Hawaiian vacations to everyone who votes for them

BTW I came real close to staying in Kona when I spent some time working on a cruise ship.

1. Lose the negative attitude.
2. Stop thinking about what you don't have and start thinking about how to get it.
3. ...?
4. Go to Hawaii!

PS... You're in highschool... You're worrying about things that will come in time. Patience is not a hallmark of the young but it will help you out tremendously if you can master that skill.

I'm a patient person, but you can't possibly expect me to not feel slightly envious over my friend's insistence on telling me how awesome of a time he is having whilst I'm stuck stressing over various volunteer activities and film festival pursuits.

Unless I'm being totally ignorant to the fact that everyone on AT is super tolerant and selfless that any mention of a more fortunate person is immediately met with pure and utter support in the event of a criticism or envy.

Damn, you eat better than I do...unless we go to Mama's Fish House...We usually drop a MINIMUM of $300 there...otherwise, we eat relatively cheap except for one or two nice dinners while we're there...this last trip, we spent less than $2500 for the week...airfare, Westin Condo, food, car, everything...cheapest trip we've ever taken.

Daddy, sorry, we didn't contribute to the local economy nearly as much as usual...you'll have to work a few extra hours to make up the difference. (for those who don't know, Hawaii iso ne of the most heavily taxed states in the nation...often taking number 1.)

Wow, that's ridiculous. I would literally rape someone for that kind of vacation.

I don't think that's the kind of vacation rape would get you. Maybe one to the FMITAP...

No, I would actually rape someone for that kind of vacation.

Stop whining.

I paid for $1100 of a $1300 vacation for my parents to go back to Ohio last year while working a low-paying job part-time and still covering gas and some others.

It's all about how you manage it. Besides, someone else said you're in high school which means you really need to stop complaining about it. Be happy with where you are right now. Yeah you may not be rich or going on expensive trips, but so what, you're at a time in life with no true responsibility (and don't try to disagree with me; I recently realized how truly little responsibility is involved in high school and wished I could go back). For the record, we went on maybe a total of 5 vacations in my lifetime while I was still living at home.

surprisingly, some union members vote against their best interests( vote republican) because of one issue...guns...they're afraid the Dems will take their guns, so they vote for the party that wants to make unions obsolete...which will hit them where it hurts the most...in the paycheck.
