sorry, i deleted my stupid question-- about the bugalow. i saw the pics on bbzzdd before i read the thread...

so what would you do differently if you went back to tahiti?

more time on bora bora? more time on moorea?

what activities did you do?

i'm planning a trip there so it's good to have the advice of someone who went (rather than a travel agent...)

Those were taken with my canon s230 great in day light but disappointing in shadows and at night.

It rained a grand total of 10 mins in our stay of 10 days(7 @ moorea 3 @ bora bora) and we were visiting during Rainy season(off season). I do believe that we got lucky with sunny days so if wanna be sure go after April and you are sure to get great weather.

Like I said before Costco packages start as low as $1600 with flights included per person. Le Meredian may not be the best resort. Sharaton is #1 in BORA BORA followed by InterContinental Beachcomber and Pearl Resort.

For Bora Bora I think Pearl had the best lagoons and beaches. It is situated on a small Island by itself (off from Main Island). The lagoons are not shared by other resorts and they the lagoons were nice and big.

so zombie what types of activities are there to do around there? what type of night stuff did you do?

also i am pretty sure i can't go scuba diving because I have asthma 🙁. i remember when my bro was like 15 and I was 12, and he went to get scuba ceritfied he filled out this form that had a bunch of yes/no questions, and if you answered no to any quetsions, you could not get certified ... and one of the questions was "Do you have asthma"

however, that was about 11 years ago, so maybe it changed. and what is so bad about la meridian? i saw the pics on the site and they are breath taking. i definnitely want to stay at an overwater bungalo if i ever go.

Like I said activities are expensive in Bora Bora (everything is expensive in BB). We did most of our activities in Moorea. We went on 4x4(SUV) safari, Shark and Sting Ray feeding and Polynesian show. We also rented a scooter for a day and went around the Island making frequent stops for pictures and window shopping.

4x4 = $40 pp = $80
Shark feeding = $55 pp = $110
Polynesian show = $53.00 pp = $106
Scooter for 8 hrs = $50.00

Other than that activities like snorkleing, kayaks were free at the resort. Breakfast and Dinner were included in our package and we just did a lot of relaxing and other Honeymoon related activities 😉.

We were in Bora Bora only for 3 days(like I said very expensive) and didn't wanna waste too much time in activities since the lagoon and Beaches at Bora Bora were so great. We did only 1 activity and that was the submarine dive for $45 mins that took us to 110-135 feet below water(neither one of us can scuba dive). It was a very good experience and money well spent($ 200 pp = $400).

From what I saw in the Island Maps at Bora Bora most of the resorts are next to each other only Sheraton and Pearl Resort seemed to be remote and seperated from the crowd but I could be wrong.

they have a sheraton there?

/starts saving up AMEX starpoints so maybe by the time im 55, i'll have enough points to get one night free there!! 😛

Sharaton doubles the point requirements for some places and I am pretty sure Bora Bora is one of them 🙂. Pearl Resort overwater was bunglow as $650 per night and sharaton is in the range of $1000 pernight during regular season.

being ATHD and FWHD cheapass member I had already looked in to that 🙂.

so all in all you were happy with pearl resort though? which one was more beautiful out of Moorea and Bora Bora? i know you said you enjoyed moorea more, but just curiuos as to which one was more beautiful.

oh, and are there any places there like you can walk into the woods and stuff and see natural waterfalls and stuff of that nature?

Bora Bora was more beautiful because

Pearl Resort Moorea = very small beach and small lagoon

Pearl Resort Bora Bora == Huge Lagoon and long beaches and on a remote Island by itself(This is good and bad cause you need to catch a boat and a bus to get to the main village)

There were hiking trails but we didn't look in to it. You could also rent regular bikes.

nope it does not suck to be back at all. Back to be home and browsing more than 50 english American channels 🙂. Pearl Resort only has 1 english channel on their TV and that is CNN EUROPE.

Also not a big fan of Seafood and French food.

yea but wasn't it so relaxing to get out of here and be in such a beautiful place? i don't think i would really want to watch much tv while in tahiti anyways 🙂
