yes, which is why i am dissapointed in the photo quality. 2 issues really... 1. I forgot to increase the ISO to closer to 800 (was shooting in 200) so that is the reason for the blur. 2. I was using my POS Tamron 28-300 and when it is fully extended it's like 6.3 aperature...
You really need a much faster lens to get good indoor shots...especially with a zoom.
yes, a 70-200 F2.0 L is my next purchase, don't think i can afford the IS version though
I have the 70-200 f/4 but I pine for the Canon 70-200L f/2.8. That's one sweet lens!
Actually, you might want to pick up a 50mm f/1.4 as well. It's super fast, sharp, delivers great bokeh and it isn't very expensive. I have one and it takes great portrait shots. Only trouble is it's not a zoom (obviously) so you wll have to move around to frame your shots. Sometimes this isn't possible when shooting at an event like you were at when you took these photos though.
I go to the Long Beach Grand Prix every year and have some really nice pics from down in the pits a couple years ago. I have some great shots of Juan Pablo Montoya from his days in CART (he drives for the McLaren/Mercedes Formula One team now). Those photos were all shot outdoors with a film camera. I was using a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and my Canon 70-200mm f/4 on a Canon Elan 7 body. I'll give some links if you like. We haven't sprung for the pit access tickets lately though because of the problems plaguing CART the past few years.
