Apparently, Ms. Jones has posed nude for Penthouse magazine. Guccione is no Bush supporter so we should expect some unusual comments coming from this Clinton supporter (She kept him up, didn't she?)

I love those women that say a man made them feel used and abused, then sell their bodies to the highest bidder. Really makes a strong stand for the women of America.

GirlFriday:

Both sexes have their fair share of scalawags. I suspect Ms. Jones will prove to be one from the fair sex column.

Of course, we still have the highest regard for the female members of our close knit community of 30,000. :p

Yes, but unfortunately Chess9, alot of people in this world (both men and women) still believe that for a woman to make it anywhere in this world she has to sleep her way there. And actions like those of Paula Jones only serve to reinforce those beliefs, and discredit all the women who got there by hard work and diligence. You are right, both sexes are affected by people like these, but women are affected by them to a higher degree, at least in my opinion. And God knows that could be wrong. :)

As for having high regard for the women of Anandtech, don't read my posts, and I am sure you will continue to feel that way. ;)

GirlFriday:

I don't think Paula Jones ever got off the bottom rung, let alone slept her way to the top. I'd say she's lost just about every round of this thing, unless you consider her "story" and the $100 g's they probably paid her as a win. I don't.

If she was in fact the victim of sexual harrassment, she would have been better served to have hired an independent lawyer and pursued her case, rather than connecting with the crazies in the right wing of the Republican Party. Politics is a meat grinder that grinds everyone without regard for party or gender. She learned that lesson too late.

I pretty much agree with everything you say chess9. My only problem is that while she did not get off the bottom rung, she did make a laughing matter out of a potentially serious problem. And it was so widely publicized, if this happens again, the next person might not be taken so seriously.

Red Dawn: Lol! Somehow, I think you did a little more to earn yours than I did to earn mine. ;)

Yep, it's that vast right wing conspiracy that is in total control of Slick Willy's zipper.

It's people like Paula Jones that shatter the little bit of hope I have about the human race. It seems we all can only gain from the loss of others.

Another person I wish would just fade away into the sunset.

She is taking her 15 minutes of fame and making a long career of it. First she fixes her nose, now she is going to be posing nude, what is next, porn movies for her?

She is another one that said she just wanted to be left alone and at piece with herself.

I read about this the other day. Certainly generated a lot of attention for her and for Penthouse (I wonder if Playboy pitched her?). The way I see it, if she can do it and she gets paid a bunch of money, then can we really fault her? I say that in light of her job prospects at this point, much in the way of Darva Conger (who did the same thing as Paula) and Monica Lewinsky (gee, do you think she'll pose at some point? almost lunch time, don't want to think about it...).

GirlFriday: I think that your point is well taken about the impact that this has on some women in the eyes of some men. I would venture to say that not all men will have their perceptions of women changed by this action and others like it. It is a commonly held belief, and fact actually, that woman can sleep their way to the top in many instances. It does not work in all situations and does not work for all women. However, the fact that it does work keeps the idea alive. Since some men don't mind using women in that manner, it will stay an option in some cases. However, women who do that will usually hit a wall at some point and will never have the respect of all people who work or interact with them. The respect of respectable people is not earned in that manner and to me that's what matters in the end. Those who choose the hard way to the top are the ones who earn respect and admiration -- what others do in their ascension will never affect that perception.

<< How the Far Right used and abused her to destroy Clinton >>????

Too bad they didnt suceed.

Actually considering Clintons taste in women, I always thought that Paula was one of his better choices. The plastic surgury hasnt hurt either. She even got that new double wide (uh, for the trailer park that is)

Dont forget Gennifer Flowers (his best choice probably) posed in Playboy so this is nothing new.

Dont teel me anyone reads these kind of mags because they really want to know what the women are thinking.

RED beat me to that last comment he made.
