I read about this the other day. Certainly generated a lot of attention for her and for Penthouse (I wonder if Playboy pitched her?). The way I see it, if she can do it and she gets paid a bunch of money, then can we really fault her? I say that in light of her job prospects at this point, much in the way of Darva Conger (who did the same thing as Paula) and Monica Lewinsky (gee, do you think she'll pose at some point? almost lunch time, don't want to think about it...).
GirlFriday: I think that your point is well taken about the impact that this has on some women in the eyes of some men. I would venture to say that not all men will have their perceptions of women changed by this action and others like it. It is a commonly held belief, and fact actually, that woman can sleep their way to the top in many instances. It does not work in all situations and does not work for all women. However, the fact that it does work keeps the idea alive. Since some men don't mind using women in that manner, it will stay an option in some cases. However, women who do that will usually hit a wall at some point and will never have the respect of all people who work or interact with them. The respect of respectable people is not earned in that manner and to me that's what matters in the end. Those who choose the hard way to the top are the ones who earn respect and admiration -- what others do in their ascension will never affect that perception.
