Here is another example.. Some guy showed up at Bandimere with a Z06 and was a LAME driver.. 1st he launched out of the Groove then managed to get a 14.5 out of the thing.. Okay yes you add 1 second for the altitude but C'mon I'm getting a 15.2 out of a truck that weighs 2500Lbs more. I have a Blower but still the rest is still just setup to be a normal 4X4 truck..

That guy has something he can't even handle.

MrBond,

It's been raining since start of the day, before he pulled in.

You people just don't get it. Whether it is a Corvette, a Viper, a Porsche or any other high performance automobile, it should not be driven in crappy weather.

These cars are made to be DRIVEN, not just "driven". You cannot derive the pleasure that they were designed to provide when it's pouring down rain, visibility is lousy, and the pavement is wet.

Not to mention the dirt, grime and oil that splashes up from the road from being loosened by the rain.

<< You know what you should do though, come by his car and scratch the sh!t out of it.. that'll teach'em to leave it in the garage >>

Yea, that's a great idea... You never, ever, ever, screw with another man's car. Scratching up a car is jealous girlfriend stuff.

I own a Vette, I drive it in the rain. I park it in the winter, but that's mostly to avoid the dopes who have never seen snow before (it doesn't happen here in Ohio often, apparently.) If I wasn't going to drive it just because the weather wasn't great, then it would be time to sell it and buy a Taurus or something like that.

Why should these cars be tucked away, cars were meant to be DRIVEN!

But the people who leave them in their garage until they are like 55 and then take them on a nice SLOW drive through the neighborhood should be shunned too!

Ah hahahahah sucks to be that guy !

sammyson damn straight! Nothing dummer than a 65 year old and his wife cruising along at 10 under the speed limit in his brand new corvette.

You're right Russ, I don't get it. When I think of a car, whether its nice or crappy, its a mode of transportation, designed to take you from one place to another...and nice cars do that just as well in the rain. That's just the way I see it.

If he can afford a Corvette, he can also afford an SUV or something of that nature to drive during inclement weather.

Hehe. Maybe that lawyer could.

I know people, however, that drive new corvettes, lexus', and BMW's, and they live in trailer parks. Now THAT is pretty sad...

I remember once while living up in Upper Michigan, we went to the mall during January and there was a 60's something Vette sitting in the parking lot. About 3 feet of snow on the ground and a good 6 inches of slush and salt on the roads from recent snowstorm. Could not quite beleive my eyes. Even though I despise Vette's that just didnt' seem right, those were the few years they were actually worth a damn........

Russ: I gotta disagree with you there. Unless it's a classic automobile where parts are extremely scarce (ie: Deusenberg), a vehicle should be enjoyed regardless of the weather. I love driving in the rain because you can see the wind flow over the car's curves, everything looks a bit more shiny, and turning the radio off and hearing the motor over the rain just seems appropriate. For cars, rain is like a wet T-shirt contest (IMO).

If I had a Viper I'd drive it in the rain.

thebestMAX,

Yep, 300/327. But, mine had the Powerglide on the floor. Bought it my junior year in highschool (1973). It was painted 1969 Corvette Yellow (an actual paint type). Black button Naugahyde interior in perfect condition.

That tank got about 8MPG, but damn do I wish I still had it.:D

corvettes arent even that expensive...they're like $40-50k? Certain SUVs cost more than that....should they not be allowed to touch the rain either? :)

Russ-

My 63 got great mileage fot the time, (close ratio 4 speed with built in Tach)about 18 on the highway and 16 city unless you were on it all the time. Must have been the Powerslide xmission.

Great car, got me through the Air Force and a lot of close calls. Very few problems but I did do my own work. LOVE to have it back also.

BIG back seat also. :D Mine had the bench seat, wasnt the SS with buckets and console but I liked that more at the time. Huge trunk also. When you are in the service, a personal place to store things really counts.

Most of my driving was cruising Yakima Avenue on Friday and Saturday nights. It was actually mid teens on the highway.

Mine was also the bench seat. Hey, when you're 17 and 18 years old, there are definite benefits to that big seat.:D

Russ, as long as you are out there as soon as it stops raining, what is the big deal? Is it any different than washing it and immediately drying it off? Granted, this person probably won't run out as soon as it stops raining, but do you have a problem with that?
