Some people should NOT be allowed to own Corvettes.

I'm looking out my front window at the rain coming down in buckets, and across the parking lot in front of a Lawyer's office is a brand new Vette sitting out in this torrent. Moron.

It is a CORVETTE! It should be at home, safely tucked away in the garage under it's protective cover. It should not be driven on days like this.

I don't know about you, but I buy cars to drive them. I don't care if it is an ugly Corvette or not.

Ok, so? Should people driving 7-series BMW's keep their daily drivers at home when it rains too?

I don't think a Corvette is such a coveted automobile that it should be left at home except for those perfect days.

Russ I think some of these people would send their mother out to get the mail in a hurricane.

If he can afford a Corvette, he can also afford an SUV or something of that nature to drive during inclement weather.

I know what you mean but.......

Rain does not hurt a car. My Vettes have been out in rain, snow, sleet, ice and below zero temps and still have run perfectly and won concours prizes. The key is maintenance.

Not everyone has a garage or can afford 2 cars.

My present cars is 8 years old plus and Ill match condition with any interested party with the same mileage.

Viper,

EXACTLY the point. When I owned mine, I also had an Escort as my daily driver. The Vette was driven when I could ENJOY it.

Russ, my man, what's the big deal about a Corvette? There really is no exclusivity involved with owning one, and there are plenty more expensive daily drivers out there.

Is it a cost issue? The fact that such a high-performance automobile is being used as his daily driver?

The new ones look too plasticky, a Toyota Camry has better outward fit and finish IMO. Now the older ones, say '92 on which had the newer rear end, those look taught and stylish. The newer ones look like crap in comparison.

I mean a Vette is a really nice car and all but it really isn't all that. I see one every couple of minutes on the road. Heck in Newport Beach I see every other person with a nicer car than a Vette. Sadly my Honda is a pile of garbage in this town :).

There's something about the look of a corvette in a downpour...maybe its that freshly washed look.

But still, I wouldn't drive it on a rainy day. Were they calling for rain all day? Maybe it was a stealth storm. I know we get beautiful days here when I want to take the kit car to work with the top off (but didn't), and then someone tells me at lunch its raining. The lack of windows at my office is a little unpleasent.

There's a guy near me that drives a Ferrari to work everyday. Granted it's an old Magnum PI 328 but it's still a Ferrari and it should be in the garage under a cover.
