I fail to see what in the hell is so important in a teenager's life or an adults life where they need to be texting 24/7 or talking on the cell while driving. There is nothing so fucking important as to take a call when your hurtling down the road in a one ton or heavier wrecking ball. People doing 60 mph in the fast lane of the freeway while talking on the cell piss me off to no end.

Some lady in the school district north of where I live, was pissing and moaning to the school board awhile back. Her son had his cell phone taking away by the teacher because he was texting in class. Though all students know that cell phones are to be shut off during class. So she try's to call him after school but he is not answering the phone because it is locked up tight in the school office. Students can only get them back after a meeting with the parent/child and principal. She is bitching because the teacher took away the cell phone and wanted to know how in the hell she is suppossed to talk to him to see if he is home.

Funny how mankind went eons without them and now they act like it's their fucking right to block traffic, annoy the piss put of people while standing in line or sitting thru greenlights because they cannot shut the fuck up or they think their life is more important then eveyones else.

The poor driving skills and lack of attention exhibited by many people on the road annoys all of ATOT.

Unfortunately, they do. I ascribe it to their mothers not slapping them upside the head enough when growing up and, present day adults being afraid of confrontation when face to face.
 
Just finished driving from Austin to Washington DC and I can attest to the fact that the vast majority of drivers are fucktards. There's always someone blocking the left lane of traffic going 5-10mph slower then everyone else and without fail they were always on the cellphone.

So true it's not funny. I think I see 30+ year olds on them more than kids nowadays, and not only that, they have blackberries.

I mean, are you all that important that you can't put the damn thing down. Yesterday I was in the theatre, and the asshat beside me kept taking his phone out every ten minutes to check for god knows what.

changing the radio station - fuck it - lets remove the radio as its just a big distraction
ejecting a CD
eating
drinking
smoking
having an unrestrained dog
and lets ban all small children from cars as parents will take their eyes off the road to deal with their child.


Banning cell-phone use in cars is beyond stupid!

I used to think like you do, but then I realized that unlike people doing most of those other distracting activities while driving, cell phone users are pricks about it.

For example, if some guy changing the station cut you off, almost causing an accident, and you honked at him for it, most likely he'd give a little "oops, my bad" wave and be cool about it. OTOH, if it were someone on a cell phone, you'd probably get an indignant finger for intruding on their phone call, and that's only if they even notice your existence at all.

Technically eating and drinking while in a car are not legal. Not banning the use is stupid. What the fuck makes your phone more important then a life. ....................... Waiting for typical smart ass self important ATOT answer.
 
Maybe it's just me but I don't think the driving thing is the fault of the cell phone. I think that ignorance and inattentiveness is to blame. Granted some people can't wipe their ass and sit on the toilet at the same time but that doesn't mean that all people are devoid of any other function while talking on a cell phone.
 
You don't understand the need some people have to be in contact with another human being every second of their waking life. It's so crucial that if you take away their cell phone, they will die from loneliness.
 
The degree of concentration needed to talk/text, listen/read and manage a cell phone is the issue, humans can only process a finite amount of data, driving safely eats most of that up.

Whenever I use a cell phone while driving or read a text, I can hear keyboard cat warming up 😱

Texting while driving is in a different class of offense entirely. You're looking down at a screen and your eyes are off the road. Puts all of us who ride (motorcycles) or drive small cars at risk. Some of the above activities can also be dangerous, but generally don't require taking your eyes off the road.
