Some people are just stupid...

I help out in my high-schools computer lab sometimes. Anyway... today I needed to take out at CD drive and open it up because some guy said his cd "exploded" inside of it. I open it up and there are shards of cd everywhere. I was like WTF? How could this have happened.

THen I find the piece of cd with tape on it.

The story goes like this: This guy put the cd in his backpack, without a case for protection. A piece broke off while it was there. So he gets some tape and tapes it together, thinking that he can still get it to be read. He puts it in, and it "explodes."😱

The guy in charge of the computer lab had a nice long talk with him. I don't think he will ever be doing that again.🙂

Oh, and amazingly, the cd rom still works fine.

lol yeah, i remember one time i saw people trying to superglue cd back together and it shattered when they tried to play it

this is funnier than this guy I tried helping.. he put a CD into his slot-loading Mac "toaster" DVD drive backwards. Nothing works to eject it. And of course Steve Jobs conveniently left out that little hole to force eject the CD, so in the end we fished it out with some hardcore paper clip.

yes, I was lucky that this drive had that little hole for a hard eject. It wasn't electronically ejecting.

lol for both your stories.

that really sucked windogg!

Funny how stupid people are (after the fact that is. I was pretty mad at the dude when I was working on the drive).

hmm , couple of times at compusa, we had people come in and a certain game, had spun up, and shattered. but i've never heard of any one trying to tape a cd together, only one time was i ever able to get a cracked cd to work again, the crack was like 3/16 of an inch, coming in from the edge of a pc gamer cd, it was the command and conguer demo issue, and the crack intersected the helicopter data files, but if ya tweaked the crack the right way, you could get it to play all the way.
