That's not owning him. Owning him would be *accidentally* spilling a Big Gulp in front of him then watching him clean it up.

explain to me how am i not humle? He started making fun of me first and then proceed to ask where i am working. So i told him where and my position and such. Not once did I make fun " HEY buddy..you are working as a JANITOR!"

Thats nice, it's a summer job, I'm working at a construction company, but my financial situation is such that I'd never have to work if I wanted to.

Summer jobs are no reflection of how successful someone is going to be, as a matter of fact I'd argue that the most successful people I know had summer jobs doing grunt work. So I'd argue that you're the elitist piece of garbage, and you have no foundation for those claims.

did you read that i've been with that job for the past year?

He went up to me and said hi, I said hi. He then proceed to ask me what school I am in now. I said I am from school XYZ and he started making fun of me and and how sh|tty my school is etc. He goes to University of Toronto St. George campus in the Comp sci program.

After he finished his preach on how good his school is, he asked where I work.
I said I work for a well known high tech company in the finance dept for almost a year part-time during school and full time during summer.

He looked at me and left.

What school do you go to buddy? I notice that just happens to be missing.

I go to Shulich School of Business, does that help? Want to pay me a visit?

LOL you go to YORK UNIVERSITY LOLLERSKATES.

Notice how you still didn't give them the name of the University?

Explain. I'm at UTM and you need at least 6 OAC's if you went to a HS in Ontario.

I agree. Most of my summer jobs were just part time no brain jobs that I could do on autopilot. I met a bunch of new people and partied every night. Now I have a respectable 'real' job.

No, what I'm saying is that summer jobs are no basis for any assumption either way.

For clarification: I've seen guys with jobs like you, that like you seem to have gotten, get to high and mighty (and eventually arrogant) and file bankruptcy faster than I can blink. Summarily I've seen people with your jobs do very well.

My uncle had a menial job piling lumber and selling saw dust, and now has 2 golf courses and a net worth of over a billion dollars.

See where I'm coming from?

Summer jobs are no reflection of the ends, but may have an impact on the means.

Re read my post, I just edited it.

No, you're missing the point. The person who is more impressive is the person who is more successful in the end.

For all you know, all of your internships might amount to nothing.

The onle really worthwile schools in Ontario are UofT, Western.

UofT is actually fairly hard to get into. Depending on the course obviosuly. anyway I live in London Ontario, so what school do you go to?

Edit: Just finished reading the post.

York University? Just be thankfull employers in Canada don't care what school you went too really.

and by the way, when you get into managment, treading that "janitor" as a person aswell as the guy who makes 6 figures will go a long way to success.

Sure they're good resume builders but future employers don't know the 'behind the scenes' of how you obtained those jobs. I highly doubt you got that on your own.

Being a janitor while in school means nothing. It's a job. He gets paid to do what he does and so do you. He takes his paycheck and probably uses it to help pay for school.

Heck, for all you know he might be working 2 (or more) jobs to afford to pay for school. If that were the case I'd have more respect for him than you. Such determination to get an education and get ahead in life amazes me. If I was an employer and I saw that an applicant worked 2 jobs every summer in order to afford school, I'd hire him over you. That shows his determination to succeed and any money says he can out perform you on a level playing field.

I'd go with the candidate that can spell the name of their business school correctly on a resume.

Actually buddy, Schulich is the 2nd highest ranked business school in Canada, with the average graduate earning 102k+ or higher within 3 years of graduating.

Only U of T is higher.

I was looking for that :D

Just couldn't find it.

Western hasn't been top since the Harvard Method became outdated.
