Some people are just bad at analogies.

Okay okay let me try...

A process is like a car and the threads are like the people or maybe the wheels of the car. The .dll files are like the milkshakes that people in the car have. Sometimes people want milkshake and they cant find one, maybe they already split it over the seat or something. Other times people crash the car and cause a pileup. The application is like the road or something.

Gravel represents CPU cycles, the operating systems scheduler which is the road gives the tyres of the car (the thread) a certain amount of cycles to do its thing. When a thread dosent get any CPU cycles it dosent do anything, like when a car drives on ice and crashes.

Common sense is like aids. some people are born with it others have to have it pounded into them.

How did I do.

I was giving the gf some analogies the other night and I told her it was like throwing a hotdog down a sewer tunnel filled with poop.

What do I win?

I think analogies are one of the main ways used by standardized test makers, including IQ test makers, to analyze verbal intelligence. If you can quickly make analogies, it indicates you have high abstract reasoning skills. Or so they say.

Not going to elaborate too much but one of my father from when I was growing up.

"Do whatever you want to, but if you screw up, your ass is grass, and I'm the lawnmower."

Kinda guided some decisions in early life I guess.

Your ass is grass, and I'm... uh... two long summer months without watering and no pesticides
