not unless it a person that will never notice the 700 missing. ex my dad will never notice in his life that he made a deposti in to a wrong accoutn if its only 700 as he routenly makes $15000-30,000 a month deposit.

hopefully he types better than that 🙂

Regardless of deposits/withdrawls/account closing/etc, the bank can still come after you for any incorrect deposits that are cashed and over any overdraws....most account rules/policies state this.

Many people also don't realize a stop payment on a check expires after 6 months at most banks (a check should expire within 6 months also, but it's not guaranteed)...if someone were to hold the check and then cash it on at the branch say 8 months later (perhaps altering the date even), you will be responsible. It sucks.

Don't touch it for a few weeks or even months. If the bank finds out it was their mistake, they will simply remove it from your account. I don't even know that they have to tell you they are doing that - unless you question it.

Either way, don't touch it... for a while. If it continues to happen, you need to tell them. Somethiing's not kosher.

Its probably some poor person's pay deposited to the wrong account compliments of the idiot teller that gave them the wrong number on their direct deposit slip which they gave to their employer, happened to me before. Don't spend it.

i would love to make $775 a week.

It could easily be for 2 weeks.

whaaaaaaat
maybe working as a janitor for mac donalds in south dakota

They will find out. I'd just get it sorted out and let your bank now so that you don't give yourself a false sense of "Wow I just got free money".

Nah. 775$ (after taxes) for 2 weeks is a pretty healthy paycheck, quite above minimum wage.

Minimum wage here is $6.75, a 40 hour work week will bring you 540 before taxes every 2 weeks.

It'd be even worse where the minimum wage is the Federal standard.. $5.35 IIRC. Only $428 gross/2 weeks.

yeah and the bank has forever to figure it out.

Nope, but I received a paycheck from a company that I had not worked for in over a year...

Err, is there a statute of limitations on these things?

During bonus season, someone deposited $1.5M into my friend's bank account. Before he could even call the bank, the head of the department called and said "don't even think about it". Apparently, the company mistakenly deposited a managing director's bonus into his account.

It was fun to see such a huge number in his bank statement though.

what a coincidence, bought 775 shares of AMD yesterday, and got slaughtered today because they warned on revenues today. looks like there's a good chance AMD may file bankruptcy

ouch. i wondered who'd buy 'em?

maybe nvidia? i haven't looked at their cash statements lately.

I could see Via trying to buy 'em again...beyond that I'm not sure.
