Some of the wildlife in my backyard... (pics) (video)

Thought I'd grab a few pics of some of the critters I see every week when I mow the lawn. I also need help with identifying a plant (possibly poison ivy), a shroom, and a snake.

toad/froggie thing
if this is a termite mound, what the hell is the hole for?? 😕
shroom (sorry for the bad res...i resized it using some microsoft crap by mistake)
is this poison ivy?
it looks and moves like a snake, but it has feet!
What time is it Mr. Wolf? Time for a stompin'...
hmm, what's hiding in the tree?
what kind of snake is this?

I'm also going through some video my dad took of elusive nocturnal flying squirrels in our backyard...gonna post the clips as soon as they're compressed

EDIT: Finally here's the flying squirrel video

Sorry bout the time it took...I'm new to this whole 'firewire' thing and I've never used Windows Movie Maker before. Actually quite easy once you get the hang of it!

Right click/save as please. And please don't bitch about me using wmv (that means you NotFred)...I couldn't figure out how to have WMM save to Divx directly...

uncJIGGA, you backyard scares me 🙁
My cousins' backyard in Raleigh scares me. They have copperheads comin' up from the creekbed there. We don't have poisonous snakes in western NC.

That's definetly a toad and not a frog. The snakish-looking lizard looks to be a skink of some type.

Don't know what kind of snake that is.

Heh, I think it's kinda cool you get all this wildlife in your backyard. My backyard has hummingbirds and ladybugs, thats about it.

The pic of the plant is not that good, but it kinda resembles poison ivy.

Im glad I live in Northern NJ.

The only thing we need to worry about is drivers from PA and NY occasionaly few from NC that drive as slow as they look.

The other day this one couple in a Chevy Caprice from NC stopped in the middle of a 4way interseciton letting out his wife, so she can go to a store that was right around the corner.
They got the horn + the birds from everyone behind them lol.

Our cat caught a skink inside our house - in cali. We also get the occasional possum, and have seen jack rabbits too.

Your little slithery friend is either a juvenile black rat snake or black racer. Hard to tell from the photo. Cute little guy, idnt he?

Huh? You have Copperheads state-wide and Timber Rattlesnakes in all but central North Carolina, particularly in East and West NC. North Carolina is the #1 state for venomous snake bites.

You also have Black Widows and Brown Recluse spiders state wide.

Wow im glad we don't have "critters" out here in cali 🙂

What do you mean? Within 500 yards of my apartment I've seen great horned owls, red tail hawks, about a million kinds of small birds, plus ducks and geese. Of course there's squirrels, I've seen raccoons... there's plenty of frogs, a few snakes, lots of lizards. I wouldn't be surprised if there are deer, but I haven't seen one yet.

*chuckle*

Yeah, it's funny how some people basically have .. never gone outside. 😛 All I did as a kid was catch critters, lol.. so I seem to be pretty aware of their presence..

To me that hole looks like a crawdad hole. Do you live around/near water? It's hard to tell but it almost looks like the hole is filled with water in the picture.

Cool pix, Hope you don't mind me postin a pic as well...
This is of a snapping turtle in a quarry in my woods....
Pic is a video stills from a D8 so quality suffers....
