Could someone explain to me why these riots happened or what caused them to do this?

Good, they give Sportsfans in Boston a bad name

Agreed. I was going nuts when the Pats won, but it didn't inspire me to destroy anything.

Winning a championship is supposed to be a good time, and these fvckers screw it up for a lot of people.

They give sportsfans EVERYWHERE a bad name. A$$holes.

College Frat Boys

That's an ignorant assumption. I know more dormies who vandalize and go to the hospital with alcohol poisoning than greeks.

Yeah, the greeks can tolerate their alcohol pretty well so I hardly ever have to treat them at the hospital. But they're sure good at raping women though.

I guess practice makes perfect?

Not really, the only place they really had this disruption was at NEU, and its a college campus so its not exactly like its representative of Boston fans since alot of those kids aren't even from massachusetts let alone boston.

And sadly, a brother of one of the students at NE was hit by a drunk driver that night around the campus. He had graduated from my high school when I was a freshman(senior now) and his brother graduated last year. I also just found out that his mother used to come to my house to give my grandmother physical therapy. Very nice family and it was a shame he died like that...

Next you're going try and tell me that L.A. is a good sports town because they like to riot when they win too. *sigh*

Stereotyping the entirety of Boston sports fans based on the actions of a few retarded NEU students? I am a Boston sports fan, and I am appalled by these actions (try READING the my posts before you jumped on here), but they in no way are that of the majority.

Christ you are ignorant.

The reason Jersey Sports Fans don't riot is because the final outcome of games played in Jersey were already determined before the games are played!

I know this is serious business but the first pic demands a freaking caption.

Another, "You're gonna get raped!"

Anybody read the article about a guy who was hit by a car and died near NEU? I heard that there was a stupid mob trying to push the car over, while the driver was INSIDE. I'd guess the driver was scared out of his mind.

Here's a link to the story. However, it is a bit different from what I heard... link

Northeastern to give police names of 12

By Heather Allen, Globe Correspondent, 2/13/2004

Northeastern University will provide to police the names of 12 students identified from photos posted on its website of the vandalism and rioting on city streets that followed the Super Bowl Feb. 1.

The students will also face the possibility of suspension or expulsion from college for their role in the disorder that followed the New England Patriots' 32-29 Super Bowl victory, officials with the university's Division of Public Safety said yesterday.

After 24 photos were posted on the website, officials received about 100 e-mails with information that helped them identify the 12 students. University officials said that 15 more people in the photographs are still to be identified.

Three other students were charged before the photos were posted on the website, though they also appear in the pictures, officials say. The three have pleaded not guilty to charges of malicious destruction of property and will begin college disciplinary proceedings next week.

"Anyone who gets identified will be referred to Boston police for criminal prosecution," said James Ferrier, associate director of public safety at Northeastern. "We have full or partial IDs on half of the people of interest."

David Procopio, spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney's office, said the newly identified students could face charges of malicious destruction of property or disorderly conduct.

Ed Klotzbier, vice president for student affairs, could not say why only 30 people were being sought, based on the photographs. But he said that of the many photos submitted to the university, the 24 posted on the website were the clearest.

Students charged with disorderly conduct face a maximum sentence of six months in jail, a fine of $200, or both, Procopio said. Malicious destruction of property carries a maximum sentence of 2 1/2 years in jail, a fine of $3,000, or a fine of up to three times the value of property that was damaged....

We had a riot on campus here at the UW this last September up on Greek Row. Fvckers did like $5000 worth of damage. What irritates me more were the reactions among the students, this complacency as though it wasn't a big deal, or as though it wasn't a reflection of the students on greek row.

It was an embarrassment to me as a UW student, and still is.

Right, and when A's/Raiders won the World Series/Super Bowl there wasn't any rioting either, riiiiiiight.

I don't see why everyone's so shocked, 85% of the time there will be SOME rioting for any championship won... especially with drunk college kids. OMG, they are rioting!! OMG!!

some of those pics don't show anything though....like there's a pic of some guy running, which doesn't tell me anything.....and one of some guy standing around with his 'B' tattoo showing...which also doesn't tell me anything.
