Yes much more effective. just ask the old geezer who shot and killed a 15 years old kid because he was walking on his lawn.

The geezer is 67 years old and will be eligible for parole in 17 years.

I hate cats but what was done to this one is just wrong. There are better ways to deal with stray cats, legal or not.

Comedian Robert Schimmel had a story about buying a $2 rabbit for his daughter. It started acting funny a fews days later, and he, begrudgingly, took it to the animal ER. They had it in an oxygen tent and had it hooked up to an IV. They said, "We're going to need to operate immediately." Robert says, "Looks like we have 4 potential keychains here..." The wife and daughter start crying so he spends $1000 on the surgery... He thinks "Am I wearing an "I'm an a$$hole T-shirt here?. Just let me take the rabbit for a "drive""

There is something wrong with someone doing something like this to a cat or anything else for that matter.

You can't compare a cat to a person. You're tying to lend severity to this case by stating the sentence that a guy received for shooting a person on his yard. A cat is not a person.

A cat is a family member. However, I agree that pets shouldn't be able to roam. Keep your pet indoors.

Not that it gives anyone the right to shoot other's pets, even if they are in your yard. Try asking the owner not to let them in your yard first. If that doesn't work, call the police.

If you take the matters into your own hands, you face having your arms and legs broken. And, yes, I'm willing to deal with the consequences.

Of course, another possible consequence is that the guy who shot your cat is also a better fighter than you, and then you're the one who ends up with broken arms and legs, in addition to a cat with an arrow sticking out of its head.

Alright there sparky, it's just a cat.
I have no respect for people who treat animals like that. If it was my pet that I loved I'd be fscking PISSED.

thats not a bolt. its a arrow.

living in the country we have a stray cat and dog problem. you would be surprised how much damage they can cause. I have no trouble shooting a cat/dog that i do not reconize as someones pet. if it is one i take it back to the owner and complain.

I've found that a headshot from a high power rifle is very effective for dispatching jackasses who shoot other people's pets. :|

How the hell do you know they're strays? My cat doesn't have a collar at the moment. She was rescued and there is no way we can possibly keep her inside 100% of the time.

I'd like to see all the guys talking tough about shooting defenseless animals actually do that to someones pet. Seriously this is just a warning but you will either get your ass kicked or be in some serious trouble.

As for stray cats causing damage what could they possibly do? Eat mice in your yard? take a crap? Geez low IQ's abound in this thread.

that is your problem. why should others put up with your pissing on bushes (wich can kill the bush) or having it mess up the property?

we have a wild adog and cat problem. while the cats arent as dangerous they cause a lot of problems (they will eat smaller livestock). not to mention small packs of wild dogs.

I wasn't being quite literal, but knowing my temper, I'd see red. I have a long fuse on most matters, but people who beat women, children, or abuse animals make me snap.

I really hope they catch the motherfscker who did this and throw the freaking book at him. Hopefully, they bash it across his skull a few times before they throw it though. :|

Haha a regular genius here folks. What livestock could a stray cat possibly kill, a chick maybe. I've heard Illinoisans aren't that smart but this takes the cake.

actually cat piss can and will kill plants. some people take a lot of pride and spend a lot of money putting in flowers, plants etc (heh not me. i would rather have the yard for play then looks). also they can kill small livestock (the turkey farm about 10 miles from us has a big problem with them and other wild animals).

IF its a wild cat or dog i have no problem killing it. if it has tags i will capture it and take it back to the owner (if i can).

Lived in the county for a long time and people would just bring cats/kittens they didnt want and drop them off in the middle of nowhere. We would have a dozen or so running around our property/cars/barn. There would be dead rabbits/birds/mice all over the place and it was rare that you wouldnt hear them at night tearing into one another. We finally had enough and started putting a stop to it. Shot quite a few. If it didnt have a collar we were not going to find the owner/didn't have an owner.

All you screaming about shooting it PUT A COLLAR/TAGS ON YOUR CAT! That way we can return this bane of existance to you and get it off our property.

heh you really have no clue. you are thinking of the cute little kitten you have in the house.

WILD animals (yes there are wild cats) are far more talented hunters then you think. they can take down full grown chickens and turkeys.

I did have a collar on my cat for 99% of her life. And I do sort of live in the country and I've never seen a family member or neighbor mention doing this or do it. I'm glad I don't live around such scum too... Animal problem? Call Animal Control thats the whole purpose of the agency.

I rarely piss on my neighbors bushes.

I have a cat and a dog and many bushes in the backyard. Haven't lost a single bush yet...

If you have strays you might want to call animal control and have them rounded up.
