some members of the armed forces are unbelieveably rude

You know, I've always held a lot of respect for those in any armed forces. I'm glad that people find their bliss in that career. But, I have a beef.

I worked on an air force base for about three years while I was in high school and part of college. Out of everyone I worked with, no one was as rude as a marine. When I worked in the photo lab at Offutt AFB, I had a marine come in without an appointment to get his official or promotional photo taken. I told him he needed to make an appointment. AKA: We don't allow walk-ins. He got so rude with me saying "Are you kidding me? I served so many blah blah years and you can't even help me? Ya'll need to get your stuff together down here!" and he stormed out. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules. I can't even enforce them, really. I just told him I couldn't get him in.

On top of this, there has been many other instances.

And more recently, three of my friends joined the marines. They went to boot camp out in San Diego. I knew when they came back, they would be different. One of my friends, Brent, came to stay at my dorm with me for a day before he got back on the plane to go finish his training (he was back from bootcamp). We were watching TV and he said "I hate this commercial," I then asked "Why?" And he said "Because there are civilians in it; civilians are dirty," and laughed.

Are you fucking kidding me? Give me a break. Just because you joined the marines, or any armed forces, doesn't make you any better than anyone else. I've met several people in the armed forces who are just as retarded as any civilian. Its a miracle they even made it through boot camp. He's training to do some special operations crap, but has to be in infantry first. I'm glad he's doing it, and hope he has fun. I still have respect for everyone in the military, but give me a break, don't have a God complex and be so condescending and rude.

"semper fi" and all that jazz...

fixed for generalizations-sake

You don't think it is possible it is just your friend as opposed to the entire Marine Corp?

Just maybe?

I have no problems with the marines in general, but I despise anyone that uses this in regular conversation. Awful mentality to have.

Sure, just maybe, but I've met enough people in the Marines for me to generalize the entire marines as rude.

Since I've met 4 or 5 incredibly stand up, polite guys that were soldiers in the Marines, I'll be like the OP and generalize every single member is one as well. Notice how it's still retarded.

well, the things is, the marines are all incompetent muscle heads with a napolean/adonis complex.

just like the MDPD.

Ever consider that maybe that they could be having a bad day just like everyone else does from time to time... combined with the pride that is instilled in you when you are in the Marines...

Jesus man, I thought Zane was the resident dolt, but you sir are very close to taking the cake.

As for the OP's comment, I rarely come across a Marine who was a jerk as you might say. Most have been fairly nice and polite with the occasional ass who thinks the world owes him a blow job.

I gotta admit that I do dislike being around most Marines that I have met. They are kinda uptight. Perhaps that is just my experience though.

..go spend some time working a retail counter anywhere and you'll find plenty of people to cry about.

I was stationed on an Air Force base for my tech school in Wichita Falls, TX and we had a small detachment of Marines there for training (maybe around 20 or so).

Well, their dorm rooms were by the pay phones in the building and they would basically stay on them non stop and we couldn't make calls (remember this was before everyone had cell phones so it was a big deal).

Well, one day a Air Force guy had to use the bathroom and he went into the bathroom (or head as they called it) and used it. Well the Marine guys went apeshit and starting yelling and threatning the Air Force guys saying that is was their private bathroom/shower area.

The next morning we woke up the Marines were not outside for Reveille. I later learned that night, someone or more likely several people had gone back to the bathroom in the middle of the night and smeared human feces all over the walls, ceiling, floors, and fixtures. The Marines were cleaning it up.

After that, they had to post a "head" guard at all times after training was over and through out the night.

About two weeks later, one of Marines decided it would be a good idea to bring a underage girl (15) onto the base, and back to his room, and along with other Marines get her drunk.

When they were leaving to get her off of the base, they put her in the trunk of car and drove around the base, and eventually getting pulled over for speeding. Of course they were all hammered and the MP's heard a noise coming from the trunk they searched it and found her covered in her own puke.

The Marines caused a base wide lock down for all trainees. Nobody stationed on there for training was allowed to leave the base for three weeks.

My cousin's a Navy SEAL and is one of the nicest, politest individuals you'll ever meet. A little nuts, but super nice.

So with that said I doubt all marines are rude and you just happened to either A) only run into some ill-mannered ones or B) you may be doing something with your tone to elicit that sort of reaction.

I used to work with a couple of ex marines a few years back. One of the guys used to be in cryptology. He was a real nice guy, very polite and friendly. The other two were also easy going and easy to get along with. Therefore, all marines are unbelievably friendly!

This bears repeating:

The only people that join the current armed forces are trashy pieces of shit that can't do anything else with their lives. I have the utmost respect for our vets, but I can't stand our current generation of troops, no matter what division they're in. I've dealt with a wide variety of them. They're all the same.

Is this thread really just a thinly disguised contest about who can be the biggest asshole?
