This kid on my bus that's 15 years old comes to the bus stop everyday in a car, his mom drives him there so he doesn't have to walk, not that far, but that's not the problem. Usually, it's a volvo stationwagon, but one day he comes in a mini. Well, I ask him who's car it is, he said "It's mine." I said "Your parents just bought oyu that car even though you're still 15 and can't drive for probably half a year?"

He told me they bought it for him to... get this, to learn how to drive a stick shift with! I'm like damn man, that's awesome, I get my dad's old 91 accord to learn stick! :Q

His mom or dad will be driving it for a few months till he gets it...

its not a big deal, kids who are given everything to them at a young age usually fail at life when they have to get things done themseleves. i got a beater 1990 chrysler lebaron throughout highschool and college.

Getting a Mini at 15 is not that spoiled. Now, once he learns stick and get his drivers licenese if his parents sell the Mini and get him an M3 then he is spoiled. He was probably saying that part about learning stick to sound more fortunate than he really is.

You know, sure, I'd like to get his car to learn to drive a stick, but I want to buy these things on my own. Anyone can show off with their parents money and possesions they own, but few can do that with their own.

Funny how your opinion would be the exact opposite if your parents bought you the $15K car.

I like my van. It stands out around here. Cobra, old model 911, ricewagons, SUVs (4runners, xterras), Escalades EXT's/Avanlanches, VW Toureg, a coupla Saabs, an RSX, a coupla Camaros, a 'vette and various other mixed bag vehicles tending towards high pricetags are my competition in the school parking lot. Don't tell me about spoiled kids. You should see how the girl with the Mustang Cobra drives. It's HIDEOUS. She's like, stuck in first gear or somthing.

Resale value on either one of my vans? Less than $3k. And they're easily the best maintained and among the highest performance vehicles on the lot. There isn't much at school that could take the turbovan out on a quarter, and there's definitely NOTHING that could come remotely close to the long term reliability and immense cargo capacity of the Vandura. That engine swap wasn't because it was neccessary, it was because we could. Factory original slushbox. If the Sierra were still fully operational, I'd also claim the best offroad performance

It probably would to tell you the truth, but each person has his or her own values in their situation, in my situation I think they're the right ones. In his situation, I wouldn't really have even given this a thought.

I can relate the kid..... kinda. In 02, got my 01' Sahara Wrangler 2 months before my license, but mainly cuz I got a nice deal on it... $20000 and 5000 miles. It's not that nice of deal, but considering wranglers are overpriced, you could say it was a deal for a wrangler. When I had to learn stick on it, i wanted to cry, cuz i was afraid was gonna fvck it up, but within 10-15 minutes in a open parking lot, I got the hang of it. I was still rusty for like 6 mo's though. oh well. Now i'm good

sounds exactly like my entire city. You feel like the odd one out when your parents DON'T buy you a brand new car before you turn 16.

So instead of being the kid whose parents bought them a nice car, you'd prefer to be the jealous prick who posts about it on a computer forum. Life's unfair, but who are you to judge him?

But then again, you're the one with the pokemon web site that drove two major corporations out of business (in your own words). High roller like yourself should be cruising in the sweetest of rides.

My site had no ads except for maybe a year in which the economy was going down and I never got much money out of them. My dad was funding it all, and you know, it was more of a great learning experience.

You're right, I'm not the one to judge him, and you're not the one to judge me either.

Same here. I am 17 and like to think I drive pretty responsibly. I never go more than 7 over the speedlimit, usually only 5 and don't change lanes like a maniac, nor do I speed in any pedestrian area or parking lot. However, the same can't be said for some kids I know at school. I wonder WHEN then will wreck, cause it will happen.
