don't worry, sounds like you have everything under control

never underestimate the stupidity of school administrators. 🙂

this is true... okay if you have a lot of cash, maybe get a lawyer on this just to be safe

Confirmed. Get some kind of legal aid now. School admins are notoriously stupid.

Everyone has their own style of writing code. The instructor should be able to look at your previous submissions and determine that this is indeed your code. He will look at the other person's previous code, and determine that they are not the same format.

Found someone on DC++ sharing my project, off to dig up his IP...

I assume that by IP you mean IP address and not Intellectial Property 🙂

Try to figure out how he got your code.

If it gets out of hand, maintain your innocence and suggest that perhaps someone in the CS department who handles turned in assignments may have given it out. I think they'd start sh!tting their pants about something like this getting out, that staff was selling good assignments for cheating purposes, and they'd be pretty quick to concede the point to you.

The lawyers will help him how...?

Simply tell the Person incharge.... check my bank account.... If I get a check from the allege creep, "I be damn!"

This thread is cool. 🙂

I'm sorry I don't have much to offer, other than I sure do hope you nail the person who did it. 😉

And the hunt continues:

Stealth1024, aka the Code Hunter, is on the trail of the elusive plageriser. A rare, but dangerous species of college student.

I'm assuming you are talking about the guy who stole Stealth1024's code.

Alright, I filed a complaint with RESNET, they investigated, and here's their initial report:

"Call ID#: CALL104549
Description:

Stephen claims that the following student is sharing a Computer Science term project of his on a Direct Connect Hub. This was verrified by Raun and Chris.

The java source files in question was found with Stephen's name in it on the DC Hub. Stephen is unsure of how his work was obtained by this person. Info on the bad guy is listed below. "

"Bad Guy" --- lol

I also got the students name, RIT ID, and CS Account Name, along with his IP Address and Computer Name. Funny he was also sharing a txt rating CS teachers and had his marked as horrible 🙂

Well tomorrow I'm going first thing over to the CS building with folders full of evidence.

The fun continues 🙂
